During Wednesday's horrible fiasco of a "Town Hall", Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel spelled it out:
What I'm asking the law makers to give police all over this country is more power.
I was sufficiently struck by the above to write it down - because it was clear even then that Sheriff Israel is an incompetent deployer of the power he already has. The scale of his department's appalling failure in the Parkland massacre gets worse almost hourly. I was on air with Tucker Carlson when I heard that Stoneman Douglas High's on-site "school resource officer" - Sheriff's Deputy Scot Peterson, uniformed, trained and armed - had declined to enter the building and had stayed safely outside until Nikolas Cruz had finished killing everybody.
After a day on supension without pay, Deputy Peterson has now "retired", which assuredly comes with pay.
But, as I said, it gets worse. Three of his fellow deputies, from Sheriff Israel's department, then showed up at the school and also decided not to enter the building but to remain crouched behind their vehicles until the shooting had stopped:
When Coral Springs police officers arrived at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, on February 14 in the midst of the school shooting crisis, many officers were surprised to find not only that Broward County Sheriff's Deputy Scot Peterson, the armed school resource officer, had not entered the building, but that three other Broward County Sheriff's deputies were also outside the school and had not entered, Coral Springs sources tell CNN. The deputies had their pistols drawn and were behind their vehicles, the sources said, and not one of them had gone into the school.

This “Sheriff” should be taken out and shot.
Nope. He needs to live out all his days in ignominy with a yellow stripe painted down his back.
We’ve seen what you have done with the “powers” that you were given by the people sheriff israel, and we find you, and your subordinates lacking.
This sheriff is a political hack, nothing more, nothing less, and shirked the responsibilities that the electorate entrusted in him and his department.
Politics has no place in law enforcement.
Mark Steyn would point out the all-powerful panopticon security state is as much of a pretense as the Wizard Of Oz.
It does nothing with the personnel and resources it does have. And crunch time - endangered kids were its last prioriy.
But I disgress - its the NRA that’s guilty for calling out this appalling incompetence, indifference and depravity of what passes for politicized law enforcement to the light of day. That in other words, the Emperor Has No Clothes.
To hear liberals tell it, those are the folks to whom we should disarm and trust them to protect our lives. After they failed to do their job.
Every sheriff and police chief in the country is a political hack.
Like the Democratic Party machine they so faithfully serve.
I heard the Sheriff giving a statement to the press. When the reporters started asking him about which officers went in first, he was like “Sheriff’s officers, Coral Springs officers, it make no difference who went in first.” In my head, I was hearing a furious, cornered rat named Hillary screaming at Congress about the deaths of 4 American citizens: “At this point, what difference does it make.”
I heard a report on the radio news this morning to add to the list of failures. Said there was a phone tip a year ago about Cruz which was passed along to the campus security officer Scot Peterson.
There are many brave and selfless police officers across the country. The Broward County Sheriff and his “deputies” are not among them. They are only good at ticketing senior citizens or hassling kids on the corner.
My “rant” as it was, wasn’t directed at all sheriffs’ departments in the US.
Just this particular one, and its shitshow cavalcade of cowards and just following orders PC lackeys.
Then again, if those deputies would have stormed the school, and killed this kid, the socialist-democrats and MSM would have crucified them all the same, and ended up facing murder charges themselves. Possible damned if you do, damned if you don’t moment.

That’s the ‘key’ they’ll latch onto and use as a scape-goat....already ‘retired’ (w/ pension).
Nothing else will change. Broward/Miami-Dade got the govt they voted for.
