Hiding and barricading are passive measures that can be effective unless shooters shoot through doors and walls or still come into a room. Then the students hiding under desks are fixed targets at a distinct tactical disadvantage.
Some will rise to the occasion. Those are the ones that will reduce or eliminate a threat or maybe die trying.
By definition, teachers are the adults in the room. They need to rely on experience and training. They need to take charge, they are obliged to take charge and are required to do whatever it takes.
When I was that teacher I wanted all the tools available to do that. If that meant using a gun to defend myself and my students I would be much more comfortable than using an electric pencil sharpener.
If you want to know how seriously stupid and depraved NEA teachers are, realize that they celebrate and honor the fake and communist Kwanzaa farce.
There is a #ArmMeWith hashtag on Twitter which is one of the dumbest things I have ever witnessed.
Heck, I just answered their phone survey......sarc
human sounding bots.
Big Data
What does it mean?
And Mrs. Lightman is forced to pay nearly $1000.00/year to be part of this crappola thanks to “fair-share” in a non “right to work” state.
Teachers across the nation are using the hashtag #ArmMeWith to send a strong message — they want mental health resources and better school supplies, not weapons in their schools.

From the South Park episode Eek, a penis.
An allegory of the current hysterical Eek, a gun! attitude.
Then they are complicit when the next school shooting happens again.
Thank you.
Bringing math into school will also hurt their feelings of self-esteem.
As they always say, “We’ll do anything and everything for our students ..... except defend them”!
Delusional and in deep denial.
And the NEA is lying or stupid. the President did not propose “bringing more guns into our schools.” He proposed having professionally trained armed security to guard against threats and act as a deterrent - this could include teachers and staff who are trained in this way. Arguing that having professionally trained, armed security for a facility does not enhance security is obviously false and just plain stupid to say. Trained armed security is provided to secure numerous venues in this country - both people and even valuable objects that aren’t even living. But the argument from the left is that having trained, armed security personnel in our schools wouldn’t protect children and personnel.
It is mind boggling how brain-dead the left is. Some of them are just lying their heads off - but the rest of them actually believe this insanity.
Any teacher that opposes more protection by trained gun carriers in school needs to be transferred to select schools in Chicago, LA, Detroit, Jackson, Birmingham, etc. Most teachers who vocally oppose this sort of thing live in white, white, white land and teach the best students. Let them spend time with some crazy or thug teens.
But armed guards for politicians and celebrities is cool? eh?
“NEA President Lily Eskelsen García:...Bringing more guns into our schools does nothing to protect our students and educators from gun violence. ...”
Oh, she’s just f***ing BRILLIANT, this worthless POS, ain’t she...
Parents, pull your kids out of ANY school that doesn’t arm folks to protect them.
#MyKidsAreMoreImportantThanYourFeelings
Clearly, the Broward deputy sheriff who chickensh*tted out and left those kids to die thought so too...
Theres nothing more inviting to a mass murderer than a gun-free zone.
