However, an armed presence at the school could significantly deter the carnage and act as a deterrent. As things stand now, a shooter can casually go from classroom to classroom for over ten minutes without fear of an armed response. That has to be shortened to less than a minute by having two armed teachers on every wing and floor.
Spot on. Armed well-trained teachers and staff, plus hardened access is the way to stop these shootings.
“However, an armed presence at the school could significantly deter the carnage and act as a deterrent.”
Your statement hits the target and succinctly describes the correct solution to the school shootings problem - “act as a deterrent.” Crazy people won’t attack a hardened target - an armed presence - unless they want to die,

IIRC, the school HAD an ‘armed presence’ at the school, no?
I have yet to read anything definitive of
1) Them actually being ENABLED to CARRY said arm(s)
2) Their location at the start of the incident
3) Their ‘response time’
4) Presuming unarmed (IE: having been unlawfully denied bearing), do they attempt to retrieve the weapon(s)
If govt makes it as ineffective as not having a presence, what good IS it?
They say the “officer” was in another building on campus.
