I think this just encourages the media even more, like sharks smelling blood in the water.

The media isn't as big a problem as the avalanche of public opinion. An absolute refusal to even consider any changes whatsoever when the public is horrified by a mass shooting gives the impression that the people's right to own bump stocks is more important than the safety of children.

A lot of the public is demanding that "something be done". Either Trump will be able to reassure the public that he takes the matter seriously and "did something", or the general public will turn the matter over to the dems to "do something". I'd rather that the "something" be as meaningless a concession as possible, and that isn't likely if the dems are given control of the situation.

Poll after Poll has shown that people don’t support gun control, I think the media has whipped up things to make it appear people want something done than there really is.
