This is a sincere and insightful confession of error and I suspect, quite eloquent in the original German. It pains me to see such a painfully crippled translation (Transliteration?) into English. I am tempted to rewrite it into at least American, if not "proper" English.

I have had much similar experience translating "South of the border" Spanish, into proper, not necessarily pure Castilian.

I come from a country from South of the border that can claim one of the few full members of the Real Academia de la Lengua Espanola," Ruben Dario, and am familiar with the many land mines present in working through a translation deserving of the original.
