Kevin Durant and LeBron James' video on Uninterrupted covered a multitude of topics: being All-Stars, being rich black men and living under President Donald Trump. James has been a vocal critic of Trump in the past, and this was no different. "(Trump) doesn't give a f--- about people," James said, and Durant agreed with him.
That prompted Fox News host Laura Ingraham to respond to their comments about Trump. She said they should "shut up and dribble" instead of giving their thoughts on the president of The United States.
In an interview with USA Today's Sam Amick, Durant responded to the news anchor's comments. He was blunt in his feelings.
While Ingraham would later put out a statement claiming there was "no racial intent" behind her words, Durant simply doesn't agree.
"To me, it was racist," he said while shaking his head.
Q: So how did her comments hit you when you first heard them?
A: "It didn't hit me. Ignorance is something I try to ignore. That was definitely an ignorant comment. I do play basketball, but I am a civilian and I am a citizen of the United States, so my voice is just as loud as hers, I think or even louder. I can't focus on that. I think we're doing some good things out here, using our platform, and I think what me and LeBron did with Uber (and UNINTERRUPTED) the other day when it came out, I thought it was great. I thought a lot of people enjoyed it.
James responded to the comments as well in an Instagram post. In lights is the phrase "I Am More Than An Athlete" with the caption "We will not shut up and dribble"
Trump has proven it is ratings GOLD to slam Black athletes. If FoxNews is smart they will take no action.
She could have said “shut up and shoot”. But that might have confused the players and endangered fans.
If these mental midgets were to actually meet with Trump, they would probably have a nice talk and a new perspective. But its way easier to whine, and cry racist! to everyone they dont like.
If they are going to express an opinion, they should expect to have their comments scrutinized and enough decency not to cry racism when they are criticized.
Grammatical errors drive me crazy. Listening to some of the athletes at the Olympics has been painful. “Him and me did such and such.” and similar statements
And Obama was just as bad. Remember when he said, “President Bush invited Michelle and I to the White House.” arrrgh
It's black privilege.
What is black privilege?
It's the privilege that comes with being born black and being able to criticize anyone or anything that doesn't agree with their own, narrow world view while calling anything they disagree with as being "racist" with impunity.
Not just with impunity, the full-throated backing of the lying liberal lamestream media too!
Allow me to demonstrate: If a WHITE basketball playwer (a rare breed, I know ....) had said anything remotely similar to what Kevin Durant and LeBron James have been spewing about President Trump regarding Barack Obama, said white player would've been suspended from the team at minimum and drummed out of the NBA never to play pro sports again. We all know that's true because we saw it happen to Corporate C-Level folks, sportscasters, product spokespeople, people in our workplace and elsewhere. Anyone who dared say a critical word of then President Obama lost their job.
So what are basketball fans who are sick of black privilege and the constant cutting down of President Trump to do?
Simple: NFL the NBA.
Don't think I have to explain it. Yes, it's that simple. It's worked on the NFL. It's time the NBA learned the same lesson.
Things will never get any better for blacks as a group until the concept of personal accountability is brought back into the equation.
