Feinstein to Introduce Bill Setting Minimum Age for Rifle Purchasers

Brings rules for rifle sales in line with handguns, which already requires minimum 21 years of age

Washington—Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) today announced she will introduce legislation to raise the age requirement for purchasing rifles from gun dealers, including assault weapons like the AR-15, to 21 years.

“Under current law, licensed gun dealers cannot sell a handgun to anyone under 21, but they are allowed to sell assault rifles like the AR-15 to anyone over 18. This policy is dangerous and makes absolutely no sense.

“I plan to introduce a bill to require all firearms purchases from gun dealers be restricted to individuals who are at least 21 years old. If you can’t buy a handgun or a bottle of beer, you shouldn’t be able to buy an AR-15.

“This is common sense and I hope my Republican colleagues will join me in this effort.”

Are we going to raise the minimum age to vote back up to 21 as well?

Yup. Raise the age to join the military too to 21. Voting age needs to be raised also.

Unless she wants to raise the voting age to 21, this is stupid. If you are old enough vote or join the military, you should be able to buy Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

Maybe we should. With exceptions, today's 18-20s seem to be incapable of independent thought.

Well that’ll certainly put an end to these occurrences won’t it. Maybe we should enlarge the NO GUNS BEYOND THIS POINT signs as well. Oh, and perhaps include the admonishment in several dozen languages while we’re at it.

So I guess DiFi is unaware of all the 18 year olds hiking around in Afghanistan with full auto M-4s slung on their shoulder. LOL!

I thought all legislation is supposed to originate in the house.

So, another area 17-18 year olds can fight and die for their country but are not full citizens. Nothing in 2nd amendment says adult or age limited.

Hmmm. Thought control. Who would have thunk it? Seen a lot of supposed gun owners saying they believe in the 2nd but nobody “needs” an AR. Not a question of need dumbasses. Also saw some LEO in the vicinity of the Parkland shooting decide he didn’t “need” his personal AR and turned it in to his local precinct. Also saying nobody “needs” guns like that. Okee dokee there officer. If you don’t think you can be trusted with it, turn it in.

P.S. Glad you haven’t burst in to flame yet. ;-)

Nope. All budget legislation should originate in house. Otherwise no restrictions as I understand it

WOW. Just had my eyes checked but I think I need to have it done again. I though the title read “age for Bible purchases.” Maybe I need to go back to bed!

...Maybe we should enlarge the NO GUNS BEYOND THIS POINT signs as well...

Liberals make drastic changes incrementally. Begin by eliminating rifle purchases between 18-21. Move on to raising the age for all firearms purchases to only those over 64 years old because that age group commits the fewest murders.
Lberal reasoning in action.

The difference is they're under adult supervision.

Why does she think this will end...or even affect...violent behavior by teenagers? If they can’t get an AR legally, they’ll get one illegally.
