Put aside your foolish anti-gun crap and qualify all teachers to be prepared to return fire.

If only the school had allowed him to carry a gun and use it.

This is what normal, sane, empathetic people feel and think when they hear about the heroics. Why did he have to use his body as a shield? Why wasn't he armed. Hell, even a taser might have bought him some time. ANYTHING! (note, I'd prefer a gun). I thought this same thing back in 2012 when that guy shot up the movie theatre and stories came out how some guys used their bodies to protect their lady friends. To me, that is reason enough to let people carry concealed in those movie theatres, but my liberal friends came to the opposite conclusion. They think the guys would have been saved if the shooter wasn't allowed to have his gun. Logic is never a factor with them. I'm sure we're going to hear stories of how things would have been different if the teachers had those bulletproof chalkboards or whatever that they can use like Captain America. Somehow that makes more sense to them than a big, bad, gun. Half of America just doesn't live in reality.

What I don't understand is why sheepdog men and women aren't stepping up and demanding they be allowed to protect their kids on these gun-free campuses. After Sandy Hook I went to a local school meeting where they discussed security. I heard snide chuckles from law enforcement when it was suggested teachers have the option to carry firearms. They also dumped on the idea of having armed volunteers. I suggested having a room where volunteers who work from home could spend some time in a school media room/library to do their work. Every time they came back with the basic tenant that we would only make things worse because we were dumb rubes with guns. This is why nothing ever changes.
