One thing for sure, the media gives not a rip about tragedy.
Like vultures they flock to the dead bodies for the ratings feast.
Maybe everytime something like yesterday happens, instead of talking non-stop about gun control, we should all start talking non-stop about media control? In the most serious terms possible. Talk about howling! Lol, I’d actually like to see it. Put the shoe on the other foot for a change.
Reminds me of the destruction of the ancient Temple of Diana at Ephesus. One of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, the temple was a magnificent structure known far and wide.
And then a guy named Herostratus burned it down. Herostratus did this because Herostratus wanted to be famous for doing something. Herostratus didn’t care what he got famous for, but Herostratus wasn’t good at much, so burning the temple was the best that Herostratus could do.
This act was so heinous that the ancient authorities decreed that the name of Herostratus should be stricken from all records so that no one would ever know that Herostratus was the one that burned the temple. No one would know the name of Herostratus and that way Herostratus would not be famous.
Cool idea.
But then some Greek Historian wrote about it.
On boy that would be macabre.
I think they sell those decks in Hell.
Do they actually get fame anymore? I mean sure for the next couple of day everybody will remember his name, but by next week, out of the headlines, out of mind. By the time he reaches trial if it even makes the news most folks won’t remember his name.
If we had a trail in one month and then hung him it might be deterrent..
It will be three years and millions in lawyers fees before we even have a trail
Munuchin is now talking gun control.. First he crashes the market talking down the dollar and now he wants Americans to be at the mercy of bad guys with guns. Idiot Establishment FOOLS.
Capture them, try them in secret the next day and execute them in secret the day after. Then “what terrorist?”
As long as there is a democrat party, mass shooters will achieve their desired fame. The fact that many of the recent mass shooters were known, or reported to, the FBI with no follow up indicates that the left wants nothing done about the shooters. They want them to exist as an issue to exploit in the same way they want “dreamers” or DACA to continue existing without relief so it can be a permanent scab issue they can pick at will for votes.
The book “The Gift of Fear” had some interesting ideas for how to cover mass-shootings without glorifying them. As I recall, it went something along the lines of “A pathetic and incompetent individual decided to take out his rage on a group of innocent children today. The shooter, who was known by his classmates as “Mr. Poopy-pants”.....”
If shooters think they can get respect by killing people, they will. If they think it will make people mock them even worse, maybe they won’t.
Media outlets should withhold the shooter’s identity. It’ll get out on social media anyway, but at least they won’t become TV celebrities for mass murder. I bet it will stop some of them a lot more than some stupid gun ban.
We should also bring back the electric chair for these kinds of crimes. Or, maybe an iron maiden or brazen bull. It may not stop them, but maybe encourage them to at least blow their brains out before the police can cuff them.
It’s sickening.
No reason we can’t change the channel or better yet - turn off the TV.
They normally don’t identify minors. This guy is 19. And I think we have a right to know who killers are.
So how do we “solve the problem”?
How do you stop something that you love from being taken from you?
It’s pretty simple.
I’m listening. I have no idea.
There was a follow-up. What should Cruz have been charged with?
That’s it! Let’s call people names so they won’t murder our innocent children!
Secure that thing you love.
Fortify its position.
Make that fortification known, and highlight the peril of anyone who attempts to trespass.
Then demonstrate that peril that the first and every opportunity.
Peace Through Strength.
