The entire Interstate system was built on a nickle a gallon tax.

Now we pay more than triple that just to fill potholes.

The “inflation” you speak of is just government overpaying pavers and road crews.

eliminate the federal gas tax & fully privatize all the interstates

costs will plummet & quality increase

5 cents in 1950 equates to 52 cents now in terms of buying power/inflation.

Not that I am for increasing taxes. I was curious and looked it up.
