I argued decades ago that PBS could have marketed Barney for more $$ than years of Fed subsidies.....if they had any business sense.

Sesame Street is big business in Japan with a much wider audience than the preschool kids and their parents here. It is a very simple forumula: They entertain + they educate = they make money.

There is no reason to dip their snout in the taxpayer trough.
