#18. Raiderboy, my god you do drone on, and on, and on. Steve Tyler just emailed me and asked me to ask you to stop posting. He’s getting a headache.

Welcome to FreeRepublic.

You aren’t fooling anybody. A drone is not a kite. This was a significant incursion by the Iranians through their proxy Syria.

But you know that, don’t you?

You forgot to mention that Hamas would be attacking from the south via its many many tunnels - it would be a real mess for Israel if those clowns ever got to coordinating their war machines.

Regardless of whether the drone had some sort of ordinance, it was likely gathering intel on Israeli defenses and communications - which is why it was taken out. Some think it was going to proceed (had it remained undetected) to a city making a mockery of Israeli defenses.

Do you work for the PLA’s Abbas or Hamas’ Khaled Mashal? Perhaps you are gainfully employed by General Qasem Soleimani or one of the Iranian mullahs?

That is was an ambush is the most prevalent theory at the moment, (given the large number of SA-5s in the air), and that the Russians may have been controlling the batteries. However, the drone did manage to gather a lot of intel about Israeli positions and comm along the border.

For a long time Israel has provided air support for Syrian “rebels”

They did until the Iranian proxy forces, and Hezbollah drove them out or killed them. The Druze were caught in the middle of that whole affair - I haven’t heard how it turned out for them.

Now Israel has Iran and Hezbollah along the Golan border (there may still be pocket or two of Syrian ‘freedom’ fighters remaining but they are not a player here. This is what the fuss is about. Mostly Israeli IAF violates Syrian airspace with stand-off munitions from Lebanon airspace. The the SA-5 has ranges into Israel so it was not necessary for their plane to be in Syrian air, just near it.

Flying anything into another's sovereign space invites getting whatever it is shot down.

That seems to be exactly what happened to the Israeli F16 doesn't it?

it was likely gathering intel on Israeli defenses and communications - which is why it was taken out. Now that ISIS has been largely beaten in other parts of Syria, the SAA and its allies are starting to focus their attention on the southern portion of their country.

So it's just as likely the drone was gathering intelligence on the assortment of Sunni Muslim terrorist training camps along Syria's border with Israel.

One way or another those Sunni terrorists are going to get eradicated, whether the Israelis like it or not.

Zero evidence this has happened...lots and lots of evidence to the contrary.

Really? Seriously? The Golan opposite Israeli lines is filled with those fighters who are trying to connect up a direct route from Iran to the Lebanon and the Med.

Maybe that isn’t in the MSN yet. Don’t know don’t care.

As they ar mostly ‘eradicated’ now by units of al-Qods and Hezbollah combined arms ...

Do you imagine Iran would run a drone intel op just to find out what they already know while ignoring the Israelis?

Where is the proof? I have never heard of a single drone attacking Israel. NOT ONE! What a joke. There is no proof it was from Syria.

There is no proof it was armed. True.

But it was flying over Israel. They shot it down and it landed in Israel. Hard to deny it was over Israel conducting surveillance. Why conduct surveillance unless planning an attack ?

Since it was an Iranian made drone, copied exactly from the US made drone that was shot down over Iran, and Iran is too far away from Israel for the drone to fly, where do you think it launched from ?

Quite literally bullshit.

The area is filled with all manner of Sunni terrorists (including branches of ISIS, Al Qaeda, and Al-Nusra among others) whose objective is to create a corridor to shift fighters from other battle fronts in Syria up to Damascus.
