Five people were arrested as fights broke out and at least one American flag was burned Saturday after a college Republican rally in Seattle drew counter-protesters.

College Republicans at the University of Washington had invited members of Patriot Prayer, a group in Vancouver, Wash., to speak in the university's Red Square for a "freedom rally," the Seattle Times reported.

From the article: "I learned that they thought my vote was a hate crime,” Kathryn Townsend, who said she voted for Donald Trump in 2016, told Seattle's Q13 Fox.

Ms. Townsend is not exaggerating here. This is becoming standard thinking on the left. I'm hearing it from liberal acquaintances of mine. If you are a conservative, if you supported Trump, you are not just wrong. You belong to a hate group. And therefore you have no right to free speech.

It's time for Democrat leaders (Clinton, Obama, Biden, etc.) to stand up and speak out against this. It's time for them to defend free speech. But of course they won't. So this will not end well.

I'm sure the protesters would recognize the free speech right to burn a rainbow flag and a UN flag as well.

They can’t defend free speech because the Left has never allowed free speech. The Fascists sent people to disrupt other parties, including the Communist party. There can only be one voice, their voice. The Democrats are “community organizers.” Think about what community organizers do. They put a screaming mob in front of whoever they have targeted and intimidate until they get their way.

It's time for whites to stand up for themselves.

The students should have immediately switched over to a gun meeting.

Jordan Peterson has been so spot on about this. You cannot let the Left control speech, they would take us down a road to modern totalitarianism.

This interview with Mark Steyn covers this idea.

I suppose that I shouldn’t be surprised to find that an American university has its own “Red Square”. Is that its formal name or a local nickname?

Yet again the Left uses terrorism and violence against us, and yet again there will be NO RESPONSE from Jeff Sessions.

If this was happening to the Leftists under a Rat administration they would be using overwhelming force to “protect the civil rights” of the radicals.

See any prosecutions for what happened in San Jose in 2016?

Nope. Sleepy Sessions trying to be a good little go along to get along.

These College Republicans are a brave bunch to be in the belly of the beast and wave flags and say prayers.

It’s officially “Central Square” but because it’s made of red brick and there are lots of Soviet admirerers among the students and faculty, it’s been called “Red Square” since it was built almost 50 years ago.

Wikipedia has an article about that. From the article:

In 1969, the field was excavated, an underground parking garage was built, and the engineers who designed the garage thought that the rain on the grass would leak into the garage, leading to the choice of a distinctive red brick surface.

Cassandra Amesely, then an editor of the student paper The Daily, convinced the student population to refer to the area as Red Square, presumably in reference to the color of the brick. Whether it was also meant to refer to Moscow’s Red Square in an era known for student activism is unclear.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Square_(University_of_Washington)

*************

Anyway you look at it, “Red Square” is an inappropriate name. It would be like naming a square “SS Square” because some guy with the initials S.S. designed it. Bad karma.

I was thinking that same thing. A brave bunch, indeed. And I’m sure the worst is not over for them. The liberal faculty will be piling on too. Since so much of grading is subjective, it would be easy to give those students lower grades on papers, projects, etc.

That will happen.

Liberal and their stupidity are getting way beyond “out of control”. Sooner or later the pot is going to boil over and people on both side are going to die. For what, because we disagree on one thing or another?. I have no doubt many of the “protestors” are being well paid to keep their “hate America” fires burning.

Speak “AGAINST” the anarchy? Hell, they are promoting it. Given half a chance they would burn the Constitution on the Capitol door step.

“You cannot let the Left control speech”......

It’s almost too late for that based on what we see EVERY DAY. The media seems to love promoting everything the left does that undermines our freedoms. Perhaps the media is getting some under the table money from Soros as well.

They talk about that a little in the video link I posted. You have no choice but to stand up and fight it, the alternative is totalitarianism.

The one thing that I've picked up on lately is the so called “councilors” the snowflakes are encouraged to see after any conservative speech that they're exposed to. Just who are these councilors and what is their training. My guess is they are there to immediately counteract the effects of any logical arguments the snowflakes may have heard and to reinforce the progressive bubble they have been so carefully trapped in. I believe it would be extremely enlightening to see who these councilors are and what their background is.

"The liberal faculty will be piling on too. Since so much of grading is subjective, it would be easy to give those students lower grades on papers, projects, etc."

And this has the added advantage of insuring that these students will have a harder time advancing to positions of influence once they graduate.

I reacted with a comment to a related story where the WU charged the student club $17,000 for ‘security’. A federal judge denied the billing to allow protest to proceed and have trial on the matter next week.

My comment was on the failure of WU to act civilly by their hiring practices of liberal lunatics as professors and failure to expel uncivil ‘protesters’ who are students. That might be grounds for a dismissal of the WU Board of Regents for failure to provide a civil, safe, unbiased, adult environment for learning.
