Kids have gotten large balloons + helium, attached a cell phone to it, and sent it up - to get a view of the curve of the Earth. Not hard.
(Cell phone in bubble wrap survived the fall. Phone camera videoed the whole trip. Phone GPS announced location on impact.)
...hmmm. Now I’ll have to do that with _my_ kids...

Whatever. Re the rocket launch, I’ll defer to the guy who wrote the 5000 word blog post while waiting for DMV on why (satire) the government should be running healthcare...
