I think that the problem was that the Vikings were scammed by travel agents.

The Berbers of Northern Africa are dark skinned and have blue eyes. It wouldn't be surprising if ethnically related groups were among early arrivals to Britain.

It'll be interesting when the history of colonization is done with improved knowledge of DNA included in the discussion.
