Markets were screaming red in Monday’s trading session, continuing a steep decline that started Feb. 1.
By 3:08 p.m. ET, the Dow Jones industrial average had fallen 1,032.95 points — or 4 percent — to 24,488.01. The S&P 500 fell 59.63 points, to 2,702.31, and the Nasdaq fell 230.51 points, to 7,010.41.
Moments later, the Dow fell as much as 1,500 points and had erased its gains for the year.

I didn't know all of the details of the trading halt triggers, so I looked them up when you wondered about why the trading hadn't stopped after the 1,500-point drop.

I had a brief conversation not long ago with a millenial type who had just taken a kollege investment course, and was bragging about his gains.
I pointed out that the market would correct at some point. He swore that would never happen.
When enough of the sheep convince themselves that the market will keep going up forever, that’s when it will turn down.

Why don’t you look up Soros on Wikipedia and read about his criminal record and illegal trading habits and his take down of the Bank of England, Mexico and various parts of Asia in 1998. You’ll also recall that he committed his entire net worth to undermining GW Bush.
I suspect he was THE player in the 2008 downfall and wound up raking in hundreds of billions, if not trillions in ill gotten gains from that time period.
