Okayits not a defense of President Trump. In fact, it takes it swipes at his presidency quite well, as if to shout at Democrats faces on what they need to say to combat the message hes disseminated to the country, especially on economic growth. Nevertheless, Washington Post columnist Dana Milbank was not happy with how Democrats reacted to President Trumps State of the Union. He seemed especially taken aback at the notion that scores of congressional Democratsdidnt standwhen he entered the House Chamber, breaking the common rule that when the president enters, no one sitsever:
I take a back seat to nobody in decrying President Trumps cynical and divisive performance. He repeatedly exploited Americans divisions on race, guns, God, immigration anything to distract from the broken promises, vulgarity and worse that define his presidency.
But the Democrats, with their childish protests, took the bait. Symbolic dissent is fine, but this was a cacophony of causes: black clothing (for #MeToo), kente ties and sashes (because of Trumps Africa insult), butterfly stickers (for the dreamers), red buttons (for a victim of racial crime) and the more bipartisan purple ribbons (for the opioid epidemic).
Worse, dozens of Democrats refused to stand when the president entered the House chamber, forgetting that one stands out of respect for the office, not the officeholder. Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) grabbed a middle-aisle seat only to turn his back on the president when he walked past. Democrats groaned, scoffed, heckled and made lemon-biting faces. Others simply boycotted. In short, they did the same sort of things they (and I) denounced Republican lawmakers for when they did them to President Barack Obama.
Milbank then goes on to lament how Democrats cant find a unifying message against this president, which was clear since we have five Democratic responses. He suggests that Democrats touch upon how Trump hasnt drained the swamp, his policies favor the rich and corporation, and he sold the working class snake oil. The problem is wages have surged. Bonuses for workers are not crumbs, only a limousine liberal would consider bonuses ranging from $1,000-3,000 bonuses crumbs. Over 250 companies have doled out bonuses and boosted charitable donations and employee investment. Apple is one of the leaders if not the leader in this, repatriating some $250 billion since the tax rates have been reduced through Trumps tax planwith a $350 billion re-investment over the next five years that will create some 20,000 new jobs. Over three million workers have benefitted from the GOP tax plan, and that figure is bound to increase. Approval for the GOP tax plan has spiked over 20 points since December, with the Democratic advantage in the generic ballot dropping 13 points as well. Unemployment has hit all-time lows; job creation was over 2 millionand the Democrats fumed, sulked, and sat gurning at the cameras. Liberal America, the 25 percent who dominate the coasts and cities, loves this. The rest of the country found it to be weird. As Guy noted, they reacted to the good economic news as if someone shot their dog.

Good one! I was thinking she was sucking on a pickle, but your take is EVEN BETTER.
America is finally standing up to those who sit down and kneel down.
One of them did stand and shout "You Lie!" regarding ObongoCare. He was immediately slammed as being racist to blunt the fact that he was absolutely correct if not discourteously so.
Trump’s alleged remarks about “sh**hole countries”, if he actually used those words, were not an insult directed at Africa. That is a false, politically-motivated fiction invented by democrats to play the race card and try to divide our country along racial lines. The countries that fall into that category are those with corrupt, inept governments, low standards of living, low educational levels, no real constitutional rights and rule of law, and serious environmental problems like air pollution and toxic waste dumps. Numerous countries all over the world fall into that category including many countries with populations that have a white majority in countries such as Russia, Romania, numerous countries in the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe, and several countries in the former Yugoslavia. There are also a few countries in Central and South America populated mainly by people of Spanish European descent that fall into this category, such as Venezuela.
That phrase, “sh**hole countries”, has no racial connotation and refers to countries that have serious problems and low levels of education and job skills, and corrupt governance. If we take a lot of people into America from those countries, then of course, America becomes more like those countries: poorer, less educated, less skilled, more corrupt, and more violent. That’s why, obviously, it’s not in America’s best interests to allow a lot of immigration from those countries. End of debate.
Just one last observation: some commodity traders use the phrase “sh**hole oil-producing countries” to refer to countries with corrupt governments that always continue to produce oil at maximum levels even when the market is over-supplied and prices are low. These countries over-produce at exactly the wrong time because corrupt government officials are skimming off the oil revenue and stashing it in personal bank accounts in Europe as fast as they possibly can. They just want to drain their nation’s oil out of the ground as fast as possible and skim off as much revenue as possible, with no regard for the economic future of their countries. These “sh**hole oil producers” are often a big part of the cause of crashes in oil prices and they have to be watched carefully by commodity traders.
I’m not sure exactly what the WaPo columnist was referring to by the word “performance.” It could be just the State of the Union speech, or it could be Trump’s entire presidency. The speech certainly was not cynical and divisive. It was exactly the opposite. Trump’s presidency has not been cynical and divisive either. He has slammed the news media repeatedly for fake news and bias, and he’s exactly right about that. The liberal news media is corrupt and biased and repeatedly adds their opinions into news reports as if their opinions are facts and news. The liberal news media people simply don’t understand that the news media has a huge lack of knowledge of important subjects such as economics, business, and science. Most people in the news media got college degrees in soft majors like Political Science (whatever that is), Psychology, and English. Most of them are very ignorant people whose positions on issues are determined primarily by just taking the opposite side of the positions held by much more knowledgeable conservatives.
It’s the WaPo, also known as the Washington Compost. He knew exactly what he was saying.
Libs are the domestic enemy of this Country.
A Dem and a journalist, at WaPo no less, who actually has a sense of shame. Take photographs, kids. That kind is nearly extinct.
