Ostensibly conservative NeverTrump news media figures scorned Fridays release of a declassified House Intelligence Committee memo detailing alleged abuse by senior FBI and Justice Department officials.
The memo claims that in obtaining warrants to spy on an associate of Donald Trump under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), the FBI relied on the Steele dossier an unverified document put together by opposition research firm Fusion GPS, which was funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee.
It further alleges the FBI hid the political origins of the dossier from the FISA court, and exaggerated its accuracy, though it was aware that the source, Christopher Steele, had political and financial motives.
Fusion GPSs initial research on Donald Trump was funded, via the Washington Free Beacon, by billionaire Paul Singer, a major funder of the #neverTrump campaign.
So it is perhaps no surprise that the members of NeverTrump defended the dossier and attacked Fridays memo.

NeverTrump=Deep State. No doubt.
NeverTrumpers kept using those two (Wilson and McMuffin) as their face person. Or another way to put it, media kept using those two as the spokepersons for NeverTrump ‘movement’.
Thank goodness! May they never figure out and move on from there.
According to Boot, Trump must disprove allegations made against him by Christopher Steele.
This is the democrat/libtard position on evidence: The seriousness of the charge mandates that we investigate this.
Even though there is no evidence, the seriousness of the charge is what matters.
-- Tom Foley (1929-2013) former Democrat Speaker Of The House
what the he!! Happened to Max Boot?
Yeah, it is rather disappointing about Boot. Either he longs to be included on the cocktail party circuit or he’s gone the way of David Brock.
I’m sure RAT ROMNEY will be the ‘Leader of the Pack’...dirt scum bag!!!
Boot is a really rabid spittle mouth hater. I pretend he does not exist and would spit on his grave.
Medved was bemoaning Trumps obsession with the memo.”Trump should use the momentum from his SOTU speach to build bipartisan accord.” REALLY MEDVED?!?!?!
Ostensibly conservative?? Anyone who voted for Hillary, is DEMONSTRATIVELY LIBERAL
Max Boot was and remains a cheerleader for Bush’s invasion of Iraq. He hates Trump because Trump was the only Republican candidate with the guts to say the Iraq invasion was a stupid, unjustified scheme that has had disastrous effects. Also, Boot wants the US to do more wars - against Syria and maybe (it seems) Russia - and Trump doesn’t
Max is neocon. Trump isn’t, so Max hates him
Being “disappointed” implies you once liked what Max wrote. You must have been a supporter of the Iraq war, then. Since I - like Trump - always opposed that disastrous and unjustified invasion, I’ve never had use for Max Booth and the other neocon writers who lobbied for it. Max hates Trump because Trump criticizes Bush for invading Iraq. And also because Trump doesn’t want US war against Syria and othe countries that Max wants invaded
The NeverTrump is dead.
Sure there are bitter fools like Rick Wilson and Egghead Rove who will forever blast Trump, but I heard Mitch McConnell gave great praise to Trump the other day.
This means that the middle of the road GOPe is no longer in rebellion. What Romney says next will tell us a lot about the status of NeverTrump. But he remained quiet over the FISA memo suggesting Romney will behave.
Somewhere Trump and GOPe exchanged the peace pipe. Trump “officially” trashed Bannon. And NeverTrump agreed to call off its dogs.
The Art of the Deal.
Having been part of the Air Combat Command crisis action team, having read the applicable intel and having sourced the UTCs against the CENTCOM AOR TPFDD requirements, yes, at the outset of the Iraq War, I was in support of that mission.
Saddam was no angel
But since Sarddam:
1) had nothing to do with 911;
2) had no WMDs;
3) was the secular hard ass who kept Shia jihadis Islamists in check or in prison;
4) was the enemy of Iran, and balanced Iranian power;
5) protected Iraq’s Christians from Muslim death squads,
Bush was stupid to invade Iraq, overthrow Saddam, and plunge the country into chaos. Trump says that, and he’s right. Max Boot still can’t handle the truth
Hey, I’m in agreement with you, and I’m aware I all those factors; as I mentioned, my support was at the outset. However, as the mission ground down with the definition of victory no clearer in 2006 as it was in 2003, it became clear the venture was a bad idea.
