He is not required to declassify, the House can and will release their memo by their own selves. Executive authority over the matter extends to objection, at which point the House can still vote to release over the objection of the Executive. In the absence of objection the House is still the authority doing the releasing. It is not Trump’s memo no matter how hard they’re all trying to make it his memo.
Please, I totally agree. President Trump does not have to declassify it or do anything with it.
I was just alluding to the idea that President Trump couldn’t do anything about the memo. He can declassify and release if he wanted to.
You are totally correct in saying that they want to brand this as Trump’s memo. That is why he probably will not just declassify it on his own, he does not want to own the memo.
