Dodecahedral would be interesting.....................
Don Williams. He and I were in the same barracks in the Army in Japan 1959 & 60.
Sounds like the fixins for a real cluster!
They could only use them during the day!..................
I can’t get right!
There’s Big Ben!!!
Cool! The man had a fabulous voice.
I guess you know he passed away recently.
Yep, and the guy that made it happen was their “Safety First” poster child, too. No joke.
Yes, I’ve probably seen every documentary there is to see on that accident.
Hmm, maybe he couldn’t get LEFT. Been awhile since I saw it.
What would be banking angle on the curves? Got to be close to Indy.
Powers up - co-pilot shuts him down.
Embarrassed, he rolls on a departure clearance, not a takeoff clearance.
And, as I’m sure you’re aware, the transmission from Pan Am saying they were STILL on the runway got squashed and was never heard in the KLM plane. NOT that it should have mattered.
The ATC was obviously confused about the 3rd exit for Pan Am since the runway was in the opposite direction, due to back-taxiing. Maybe if they hadn’t been listening to a soccer match during extreme fog conditions.....
Really?
How lon/far is a airplane on this circle going to be always directly headed into the wind?
If “land” and “takeoff” include the deceleration or acceleration phases, there’s no contradiction. There’s about 7 miles of tarmac to accommodate all these actions. A couple of miles for take off and landing, a couple of miles for deceleration, and a couple of miles for acceleration. A mile to keep everything from happening in the same place.
For instance, this scenario: Plane “A” has just touched down, and proceeds while decelerating. Plane “B” is just beginning to accelerate. Meanwhile, plane “C” is in final acceleration & will take off shortly.
Yes. Too bad. He and a friend from Texas where they lived, enlisted under the “Buddy System” where they were guaranteed Basic Training, Extended Training and duty assignments together for the duration. After he’d been over there about 6 months Don’s mother passed away and the Red Cross got him a 30 day leave to go home for the funeral. While at home he married his high school sweetheart. I got moved to another duty station and lost track. But I’ve often wondered if, with all the fame and fortune, did he stay WITH that high school sweetheart? He did a concert here in Pennsylvania about 15 years ago, and I went. I attempted to get backstage to see him, but no dice.
RIP
I never heard this one, thanks for sharing.

The contradiction is that three planes can takeoff or land simulatenously without at least one plane not experiencing crosswinds, as the takeoff/landing zones would be 120 degrees apart, so if one plane is taking off into the wind, the others would have 60 degree crosswinds.
I think in England that would be “get right”- they drive goofy over there.
I got that — that’s why I stated my assumptions in my first sentence.
I don't think this will work for Billings Logan Intl.
