I was neutral about it, until I went to Incirlik AB, in 1982. Ever since then, I have been anti Turkey. Even more so now. I thought the biggest problem with Turkey, is that there are too many Turks there. 😊👍 I hated the place, and figured the only way they would ever get me back there, would be in a straitjacket. 👎
I know a retired pilot here, who served for a time at Incirlik and expressed about the same dislike for it.
I went to Sinope in 1968 and if you think Incirlik and surrounding areas bad, you missed the really bad crap. Trabzon AFB is also a hellhole - almost got killed by a mob there.
The biggest problem with Turkey is they are Muslims longing for return of the Ottoman Empire. The whole of the country, outside of its showcased cities, is a hellhole in a sh-thole.
People, and there are some here, who say nice things about the country and its people have either never been outside some city limits or are desperately naive and credulous.
