If organs are being “donated” at death, what’s the consideration? In other words, they’re being donated in exchange for what? State the market value of the donation at least, so the estate can offset any taxes due.

In the US, it is illegal to sell organs, but they can be donated, if a person is declared brain dead. It’s a gift of life to some other person.

As with many regulated things, there is a black market.

I don’t really know much about how the black market works, nor do I want to. It’s too macabre.
