One of the gravest and most damaging abuses of state power is to misuse surveillance authorities for political purposes. For that reason, The Intercept, from its inception, has focused extensively on these issues.
We therefore regard as inherently serious strident warnings from public officials alleging that the FBI and Department of Justice have abused their spying power for political purposes. Social media last night and today have been flooded with inflammatory and quite dramatic claims now being made by congressional Republicans about a four-page memo alleging abuses of Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act spying processes during the 2016 election. This memo, which remains secret, was reportedly written under the direction of the chair of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, GOP Rep. Devin Nunes, and has been read by dozens of members of Congress after the committee voted to make the memo available to all members of the House of Representatives to examine in a room specially designated for reviewing classified material.
The rhetoric issuing from GOP members who read the memo is notably extreme. North Carolina Republican Rep. Mark Meadows, chair of the House Freedom Caucus, called the memo “troubling” and “shocking” and said, “Part of me wishes that I didn’t read it because I don’t want to believe that those kinds of things could be happening in this country that I call home and love so much.” GOP Rep. Scott Perry of Pennsylvania stated: “You think about, ‘Is this happening in America or is this the KGB?’ That’s how alarming it is.”
This has led to a ferocious outcry on the right to “release the memo” – and presumably thereby prove that the Obama administration conducted unlawful surveillance

It’s certainly possible he was blackmailed, but I think it’s more likely he or his family was threatened.
I'd say the time is about right for him to start talking about it.

They are in no hurry to release it. It’s a bigger club unreleased than released.

“The Blaze” is referring to this as a “top secret memo”. It isn’t, per all the congressmen who’ve spoken out. The Blaze... ick.
Most likely when the time is right. It needs to be declassified. If they didn’t want the public to know they wouldn’t have gone this far.
They are frauds, even if they release the memo. Which no one will actually care about, so they might as well release it and watch the yawns.
As tempting as such a scenario is, I think it would be wrong of Trump to use the memo as a bargaining chip for other legislative initiatives or concessions. First, one has nothing to do with the other; Second, since when does the chief law enforcement officer bargain away the obligation to prosecute treason in exchange for unrelated policy goals? I could see plea bargaining with an individual defendant to catch bigger fish or to expose greater crimes, but not something unrelated to law enforcement and prosecution. Third, do we, as conservatives want to see such injustice, that some or all of these criminals would walk for some other unrelated goal (or for any reason for that matter)?
RINO Ryan will be stonewalling the release.

I have posted this many times. IMO, give Trump the microphone, all the major TV cameras and have him read/explain the report in its entirety to the American people and the world during his “State Of The Union” message. Indeed, what is rumored to be in that report IS the “state of our union”. Simply we have a corrupt government run by corrupt politicians and high level managers, all who need to be charged, prosecuted and jailed. Let the chips fall where they may. (Personally, I would hang the bastards for treason).

To me, this feels like a Trey Gowdy speech. A whole lot of sound and foot-stomping and yelling and threats...and then nothing happens.
