The U.S. Supreme Court on Friday granted review in the legal challenge to President Donald Trumps permanent policy restricting entry into the United States from the residents of eight terror-prone nations, in what will be a historic case on presidential authority, national security, the role of the courts in immigration, and the Constitutions guarantee of religious liberty.
This travel policy has gone through three versions since President Trump was sworn into office, and the Supreme Courts decision in the case they accepted Friday should permanently settle all legal challenges to his authority on this subject.
Congress delegated broad authority to the president in 8 U.S.C. § 1182(f), a provision in federal law which provides:
Whenever the President finds that the entry of any aliens or any class of aliens into the United States would be detrimental to the interests of the United States, he may by proclamation, and for such period as he shall deem necessary, suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens as immigrants or nonimmigrants, or impose on the entry of aliens any restrictions he may deem to be appropriate.

Can a president invalidate an EO issued by a prior president? So does an EO automatically become law?
Praying that this comes out right.
The frightening thing is that scotus can do whatever it wishes to do. In a system of supposed checks and balances, congress isn’t a check on scotus.

It's really worth buying...soft cover about $10.
islam is NOT a religion. It is a complete political system that would shut done all other religions and political systems to no other benefit but its own.
EOs are not law. They are directives to the executive branch about how to carry out their functions. So yes, any EO can be changed or repealed by a new president. Trump has done so to many of Obama’s EOs.
True, but that doesn't mean it isn't a religion. It's all of the above.

SCOTUS will deliver a harsh smackdown on the rogue federal judges who have lost all respect for the rule of law.
Congress should have removed them from the bench.
Watch out for Robertsflip prone
Now you’re inserting “true”, which is subjective. If you’re a Christian all other religions are false by definition. It’s not the job of government to decide which religions are “true” or “false”. But our government should be honest about how Islam is different from others.
This will be 9-0 in favor of the Trump Administration. 8 U.S.C. § 1182(f) is so clear and unambiguous about the President's authority that even the lefties on SCOTUS will not be able to spin this some other way. Just as SCOTUS ruled 9-0 against Obama in several cases where he clearly overstepped the plain reading of the law.
Exactly. Should be an easy ruling.
From your lips to God’s ear.
“Watch out for Robertsflip prone”
I wrote him off with the Obungholecare decision.
I wonder if it has ever happened that the Supreme Court referred a lower court for disciplinary action because a decision was so egregiously wrong-headed.
