I like the John Cale version as well, and in fact the first time I ever heard the song was in the movie. Licensing issues kept it from being used on the soundtrack album, which has a version by Rufus Wainwright.

I Will Never Pass this Way Again (Don't squander the opportunity to do a kindness today.)

Those Words (This is a good filter to learn to run angry words through before speaking harshly to a loved one. Much wisdom in this lyric.)

Yesterday When I was Young (Here's a lyric I wish I had paid heed to several decades ago. Unfortunately, the wisdom in this song is lost on those who could benefit most from it. Also, this is not by Roy Clark. Rather it's by Glen Campbell. Nothing against Clark's version. I'm just of the opinion that Campbell is a better singer, as you may have guessed if you clicked on my first two links.)

We Shall Behold Him (I can't imagine how Dottie Rambo must have felt hearing Sandi Patty perform her magnificent song. Lyrics by Rambo, performance by Patty -- an unsurpassable combination of talent and inspiration!)

Heh, heh!.
“Money” -Barret Strong /sarc
“Take the Money and Run” - Steve Miller

Actually, thanks to Democrats taxes, I’m so “poor” I can’t afford to put a capital “P” on that word.

Really inspirational songs:

“Ballad of the Green Berets” - Staff Sgt. Barry Sadler - a lot of my friends from Vietnam were in the 5th Special Forces

“God Bless America” - Kate Smith

“The Star Spangled Banner” - Francis Scott Key

“America the Beautiful”

Everything else is secondary.

Every hear the rendition of "Gerry Owen" in the movie "Rough Riders"? A personal favorite.

For my own inspirational song, I'll have to go with "Eye of the Tiger"

O thank you for posting that. I truly love that song.

I couldn't find it on Spotify. I posted your youtube to my facebook for easy access and my listening pleasure.

If the pipes don't inspire an Anglo Saxon, I'm not sure what will.

:)

Thank you.
Phillip Glass is an acquired taste for most people.
If you don’t already like minimalist classical music, glazed with World Music rhythms, you may never like his work.
I have been fascinated with Glass since I first heard Koyann.
back in 1983. That same year, Lori Anderson (Lou Reed’s widow) also produced some good original work. Lori was more on the “Talking Heads” kind of composition.
