WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump on Thursday said his concept of a wall along the U.S. border with Mexico "has never changed or evolved," contradicting comments made by his chief of staff.
White House chief of staff John Kelly told Hispanic lawmakers during a Wednesday meeting that some of Trump's immigration views during the campaign were "uninformed," according to reports in the Washington Post and New York Times.
Kelly, in an interview later with Fox News, said the Republican president's views have evolved.
In an apparent rebuke of Kelly, Trump tweeted on Thursday: "The Wall is the Wall, it has never changed or evolved from the first day I conceived of it."

Evolve/”Grow in office” = Big Panic, Fear
NO WALL! No daca!
McMaster and Kelly need to GO.
I don’t know if Kelly meant that Trump’s STANCE evolved so much that his APPROACH to solving the problem.
Trump knows there is more than one way to skin a cat.
He and Kelly may be getting the media and the Democrats (but I repeat myself) into a knot.
"Yes, Sir."
"No, Sir."
"How high, Sir?"
More fuel for the media to think that Trump has mental issues.
Kelly fixed the leak BS.
, but you don’t tug on superman’s cape
Don’t be silly, this is strategy. If Kelly had mimicked Trump there would be no news coverage today, no opportunity for the President to remind everyone about what is negotiable (how its paid for) and what is not (the wall).
I certainly like Trump, but so many people he appointed are a disaster.
I have exactly the same impression of the situation. Unfortunately, Trump has filled his cabinet with GOP establishmentarians and worse. McMaster is John McCain's favorite Lieutenant General, Tillerson supported Jeb Bush during the primaries, Nimrata Haley is basically a manlier version of Lindsey Graham, Kelly opposes a border wall, Mnuchin and Cohn represent Wall Street interests, and Jared/Ivanka are outright liberals. Meanwhile, the anti-establishment people like Bannon and Gorka, who actually support the issues and agenda that Trump ran on, are all gone. So we're left with Miller and Sessions holding the fort (everyone here seems to hate Sessions, but at least he's solid on immigration, unlike most of Trump's other appointees).
Nailed it
Of course it’s evolved - the President wants it twice as high and three times thicker than when originally conceived of.
Its better to have no staff than a disloyal staff.
Have you ever actually had staff?
The President needs to make Kelly drop and give him 50 in front of the MSM.
Yes, and having a weasel dick in your midst is a disaster. Better to not have a staff.
That is not unusual in any presidency.
Sometimes Kelly thinks he’s POTUS. Then Trump sets the world straight with a tweet. Hah!
(hand wringers deeply saddened...)
“That is not unusual in any presidency.”
Really?
How many of Obama’s flunkies contradicted him in his first year in office?
