Immigration Reform Congress *Should* Send to Trump
The Revolutionary Act ^ | 01/16/17

Posted on 01/16/2018 1:57:46 PM PST by Liberty7732

President Trump either incautiously or brilliantly said during his opening negotiating session with Congressional leaders that he would sign whatever immigration agreement they brought to him. There has been plenty of hand-wringing over that statement from those supporting Trump based on his promises to build the wall and control immigration.

And of course since then, there has been the meeting where Trump might have said a bad word, or might not have. So that was a big deal over maybe something else, or maybe not something. Just in case, CNN said it 195 times in one day. Media in 2018.

But all the hand-wringing on one side and pathological hysteria on the other side, are all easily remedied — as long as Trump remembers three things: who got him elected and why; that regardless of naughty words (or not) DACA offers him real leverage with Democrats; and that Democrats simply want more voters by their own admission.

If Democrats got their way and all illegal residents were legalized citizens, Florida and Texas would become blue states and Republicans would never win another national election, becoming a permanent and small minority in Congress and the country. Republicans in Congress better darn well remember that, too.

So, here is an outline of the immigration plan that Congress should send to the President for his signature and the end to some of these ongoing and unnecessary debates.

1) Build the flippin’ Wall! Whew! This one is so painfully obvious. Nothing should go anywhere in any direction that Democrats want without full-funding for the wall. Right now, a limited portion exists and Congress has approved $1.6 billion for a small part of the wall to be built. In a $4 trillion budget, that’s peanuts. The wall has real purpose for all Americans.

Trump has been talking about building the wall since launching his campaign in June 2015. It became a staple rallying cry at every rally. No wall, no re-election.

And while on the wall, let’s take a serious look at paying for it by putting surcharges on money sent back to Mexico by Mexicans living here and taking American jobs, and any other creative ways to not have to put it all on American taxpayers. After all, it is really the semi-failed state of Mexico that has driven millions of their citizens to flee to the United States.

2) Chain migration. These laws allow the relatives of immigrants to immigrate here, which then allows the relatives of those immigrants to come and so on. It would be theoretically possible to empty out an entire country this way.

“[Chain migration] is the primary mechanism that has caused legal immigration in the U.S. to quadruple from about 250,000 per year in the 1950s and 1960s to more than one million annually since 1990,” according to NumbersUSA.

Here’s the process, explained by NumbersUSA: “Chain Migration starts with a foreign citizen chosen by our government to be admitted on the basis of what he/she is supposed to offer in our national interest. The Original Immigrant is allowed to bring in his/her nuclear family consisting of a spouse and minor children. After that, the chain begins. Once the Original Immigrant and his/her spouse becomes a U.S. citizen, they can petition for their parents, adult sons/daughters and their spouses and children, and their adult siblings.”

Chain migration has built the record-breaking number of legal immigrants in the country, burdening the country with additional metropolitan sprawl, traffic congestion, school overcrowding, hospital overcrowding and other issues because the growth is too fast and the illegal immigrants cost more than than pay. Further, the Center for Immigration Studies estimates that about eight million new immigrant voters will be added to the U.S. electorate in the next 20 years via chain migration — the large majority of whom vote Democrat.

End it.

3) Visa lottery. Officially called the Diversity Immigrant Visa program, this creates a United States Permanent Resident Card for 50,000 immigrants each year. The goal is to diversify the immigrant population in the United States. Of course, they each can begin their own chain migration process, so it becomes much more than 50,000.

The program works by selecting applicants from countries with low numbers of immigrants in the previous five years. As of 2017, around 20 million people apply for the lottery each year. (Because — please note, NFL players — we are the most attractive destination in the world.)

This finally got the attention it should have been getting all along when the ISIS-inspired terrorist who drove a truck along a pathway and killed eight people in New York turned out to be a “diversity” lottery winner.

Diversity in this respect is hokum. America is already the most diverse country in the world and if we just wanted a more diverse immigrant population, we could accomplish that by…building the wall! (One in four immigrants in the United States are from Mexico, making “diversity” all but impossible.)

4) E-Verify. This is the most popular immigration reform out there, and it’s a no-brainer — except perhaps for the influence of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. It would bar American employers from hiring illegal residents over American citizens for jobs.

E-Verify is voluntary right now through a federal website. That has made it all but worthless because it is hard to compete with those who hire illegals if you follow the E-Verify rules. That’s just how it works and the results of the website demonstrate that.

Trump has said it should be mandatory, and it’s tough for Democrats to argue the point considering more than 60 percent of Americans in several polls support it. But attempts in the past have failed, in part because of Republicans. They should find their spine and do this. It only takes a tiny bit of gumption to get this one right.

Reform immigration for an American future controlled by Americans Trump will likely continue enforcing the currents laws, plus new ones. Deporting the 200,000 Salvadorans that were supposed to be here temporarily after a hurricane and are still here 20 years later, and raiding companies that are knowingly employing illegals such as the recent 7-11 raid by the feds, are right and proper executive actions.

None of this reform is conceptually, or in practice, revolutionary or unusual or un-American. With a package like this in place, the United States would regain control of its borders and immigration rules, creating a better America now and for future generations.

And it might save the world from progressivism’s attempt to douse the shining city on a hill.

It could add a few other things like;
visa entry/exit checking
penalties for illegal presence,
penalties for working here on a non work visa,
penalties for intentionally overstaying a visa

Despite all of the hand-wringing after that immigration meeting, it now appears that (as usual) Trump knew precisely what he was doing. I think he made the infamous “I’ll sign what you send me” (paraphrased) statement in order to coax the leftists in both parties to put their cards on the table, and boy did they.

The “bipartisan” plan that they submitted in response was a horror show. It wasn’t any kind of compromise, but rather a bill that would have made even the current lax immigration policy much, much worse.

The open borders crowd thought they had a live one on the other side of the table, and went for broke to take advantage. However, what really occurred was that they were tricked into clearly showing themselves to be nothing but open borders, amnesty for everyone traitors. Their exuberant overreach made it crystal clear that they want amnesty for all, and that they NEVER truly intend to secure the border.

This immediately put to reset any notion that these congressmen were reasonable negotiating partners, and thus they and their agenda should be ignored going forward, as Trump has since implied.

A brilliant move by Trump.

I agree with all 4. I would include English fluency requirements.

I’d start w/ a few things that wouldn’t require Congress in the least:

- Follow & enforce EVERY EXISTING LAW on the books
- MAKE ICE/DHS/BP/etc. do their J-O-B-S a/o start terminating the dead-weight
- Arrest & prosecute ALL entities aiding & abetting the illegality (starting w/ the ones in black robes and other govt officials/employees)
- Halt any/all welfare (base the EO on the 4th, 5th & 13th A.)

Sorry, but eVerify isn’t to be considered:
- Fedzilla has NO authority
- It puts the onus on biz for govt failing to do ITS *job*
- Free Men do no require permission from govt to work, nor to be tracked, harassed, etc. (govt cannot [won’t] even halt IRS fraud, knowing 30 checks are delivered to the SAME address...but THIS??)

"...CNN said it 195 times in one day."

Just like CNN must have definitely repeated zerobama's '57 states' comment 195 times within a day, so it all balances out, right?

President Trump either incautiously or brilliantly said during his opening negotiating session with Congressional leaders that he would sign whatever immigration agreement they brought to him.

The President said he would sign legislation, not the first crackpot proposal brought to him by those great bipartisan statesmen, Durbin and Graham. When he reminded them that there were other people involved in enacting legislation and they needed to go back and work it out with them, they got their feelings hurt. It must be difficult for Senators who think they are always the smartest person in the room to find out they are not.
