Guess which state has the highest poverty rate in the country? Not Mississippi, New Mexico, or West Virginia, but California, where nearly one out of five residents is poor. That's according to the Census Bureau's Supplemental Poverty Measure, which factors in the cost of housing, food, utilities and clothing, and which includes noncash government assistance as a form of income.

Um...because they’re funding poverty. They’re making it a viable lifestyle choice.

You forgot the 65,000 homeless people camping and defacating on the streets. It’s one of Trump’s ‘sh&&%%##holes’.

Per another thread, I figured CA is spending about $20/day on “the poor”. Now that’s “spending”, which may be filtered/skimmed thru assorted services.

But between that, federal & city “entitlements”, charity, and any other way of eliciting a buck, someone could acquire about $20/day.

I can cook pretty decently for $1/meal.
In a really temperate climate like the CA coast, and the lack of legal discouragements to homelessness, plus no dependents, one could get by pretty well on $20/day.

I was born there...and lived there until 1989-90.

I saw massive changes....over time.

None were good...and I took my family out of there....

Keep the people high, poor and stupid and “democrats” win elections.

Not to mention that the illegals add to the poverty numbers.....they are also getting nervous about DHS/DOJ making noise about prosecuting politicians who refuse to obey the immigration laws - should have been done long ago.

We can hope there is some serious fallout landing on the sanctuary politicians running those places (into the ground)...
