I certainly second what the APA said. Most of the people giving their opinion are hard core lefties who know it's unethical, Goldwater Rule, etc, but they don't care. . the ole' end justifies the means bit.
The points of the article are well taken. I'm surprised the APA made the proclamation as most of the higher ups in the APA are lefties.
The money paragraphs: "Armchair psychiatry or the use of psychiatry as a political tool is the misuse of psychiatry and is unacceptable and unethical," the statement read. "Using psychiatry for political or self-aggrandizing purposes is stigmatizing for our patients and negatively impacts our profession."
"As the largest psychiatric organization in the world, the APA cautioned members not to violate the "Goldwater Rule," which harkens back to the early 60s when psychiatric professionals were urged against commenting on the mental state of public figures from afar."
that is excellent. It has to be completely and ethical and professional to analyze youre having opinion about anyone that they havent seen personally.
There is a poster here, who left during in the primaries, who was supposedly a psychologist and was doing the exact same thing, giving a professional opinion on trumps mental state. When I pointed out that wasnt it unprofessional for her to give a professional opinion about someone that she had not even been In the same room with, much less the same state, she backed off. Gave some silly excuse. But Im pretty sure it didnt stop her from doing it again.
Trump is doing a good job of exposing the idiots.
