My parents have been looking to move to Kentucky, and it is beautiful country. Agree with hardspunned’s recommendation to stay away from Louisville.

We moved to Paducah, Kentucky last spring as sort of a second career in the ministry. We plan to be here 10 or 15 years and then retire. Great area. VERY cheap housing. Got some snow but not near as much as where we used to live in MIchigan. Didn't have snow until a week ago and it will probably melt this week. Western Kentucky has lots of hunting and fishing. Lots of water around...within two hours of St. Louis or Nashville or Memphis if you want to visit big cities (don't know why!). Paducah is small enough so traffic is no issue but big enough where you can get most anything and most big stores and shops are here. Overall pretty good area.
