BTW, how many surgeries thru the VA result in a pet finder style microchip being left inside?
This particular VA is generally highly-rated. Many, if not most of the docs there are university affiliated (mostly Yale). Then again, Yale had their surgical training program suspended previously (in 2002), and has a mix of good and terrible physicians - like too many places.
Wonder if he was able to get through airport scanners.
Actually, if I had internal surgery done, I’d at the very least want to get an ultrasound done afterwards just to see if everything is in place.
Nursing and other medical schools are rife with feminist propaganda and other efforts from the left (e.g., gun control).
The bureaucrats at the VA will send the Veteran a letter threatening to disenroll the Veteran if the scalpel isnt returned.
The VA medical people are usually OK.
They only see their little part of the VA bureaucracy.
The Veteran sees the VA as a giant, uncaring monster.
This is mostly because of the VA bureaucrats.
The VA medical people need to shun the VA bureaucrats.
I had surgery at a VA hospital and they left about a foot or two of metal wire in me!
Good thing, too! It was stainless steel wire holding my sternum together after open heart surgery.
And yes, it has set off the hand held scanners at the TSA checkpoint. Never at the scanner 'Booth', though.
“Well, excuuuuse, meeeeee!”
The VA should be disbanded and veterans with service injuries should be given a lifetime good quality heathcare policy with no copays.
Good thing they didn’t look for it with an MRI.
Excellent idea but where will the government “workers” get jobs? How insensitive of you...
Since there are earnings caps for VA use many don’t qualify. Even 20 yr career Retired. Your spouses income is included but should be excluded. 100% disabled do use VA.
Being Medicare/Tricare Life all hubby’s is private, and he sets off the alarms, 2 partial knees and a shoulder ball. When he flew to Niagara Falls, NY from Memphis for his eldest brother WW2 Vet’s funeral service he used a Travel Agent friend of daughter’s to book his flights, had wheelchair waiting, special TSA service as they were pre-notified of the metal, wheelchair at plane changes, and a grade A car rental when he got there. For less than you’d normally pay. All he had was 1 carry on bag for a 4 day stay.
Very true. I just have 2 screws in the R. Thumb base joint, and no more MRI’s can be done. Exrays would pick up a scapal though as it does the screws in my thumb. But MRI’s don’t effect gold crowns in your teeth.
