It was a different political climate in 1982. Just because a republican retires does not mean that a Democrat will win that seat. A Republican dist will just elect another Republican.

I don’t think the Pubbies losing the House is necessarily a disaster for Trump, if anything, making the RINOs irrelevant may clarify things and clearly puts Trump against the Democrats, without the RINOs getting in the way.

And forget all that garbage about Impeachment, it’s not happening.

You might want to re-read my post after taking a reading comprehension course.

Why elect an anti Trump Republican?

By staying home or voting for the left you allow the GOPe to explain the loss as “They had better turn out.” By voting for a right third party you show them they had the turnout but the right wing folks rejected the GOPe.

All elections are local and I’ll be looking at the candidates for state and national level positions. Any R anti Trump will not get my vote.

So you’re still a “Vote for the GOPe reqardless of their position.”?

I have read this SAME Axios story now three times here on FR in the last two days. Have we all gotten our concern trollage out of the way by now or do we have to keep it up so I can read this story another three times.

Extra extra read all about it, GOP doomed, Trump doomed, everything is gloom, give up now!! Same story as yesterday, same story as tomorrow, eventually it will be correct, stopped clock is right twice a day.

Oh noes, we all is gonna die!!!

I remember 1982 pretty well. It was a different political climate back then. The Republicans and Democrats actually got along with each other. Ronald Reagan and Tip O'Neil were best buddies.

Also, the economy was still in its doldrums in 1982. The Reagan economy was just starting to gather some steam but too late for the mid-term election cycle. Things still looked pretty bleak economically speaking.

You are right, a Republican retiring from Congress does not automatically result in a Democrat getting that seat. It might actually work to our advantage - getting a lot of new blood into Congress.

Imagine what can get done if Republicans have majority in Congress after all that turnover. Could very well happen. Do not underestimate Trump's ability to get out the vote. I see a lot of Trump rallies this coming summer and fall. If the economy is still roaring, the Democrats will be on the defensive and as of today, they still have no plan except hating on Trump.

Since the GOP receives the most critism on this conservative site, I may just switch to voting straight dem from here on out.

Axios also received a nice promotional from the Washington Post, a highly reputable newspaper, promoting a totalitarian agenda.

I’m not sure how to differentiate GOP from GOPe? Is GOPe one that has served more than one term in office?

Last summer and now are light years apart.

Exactly. Last summer there was breaking news almost daily about some rumor or leak related to Mueller's ongoing investigation. Today, Mueller -- along with the entire DOJ and FBI -- has been completely discredited. That story has vanished from the media because it only brings bad news for the Democrats.

That's why the whole narrative about Trump shifted to the kind of lunacy we've seen in the last couple of weeks -- from that bizarre book by an author who freely admits that he can't verify most of the things he has written, to an entire weekend of coverage over sh!t-hole countries ... where the people who are complaining the loudest about Trump's alleged comment are the ones who are also saying the U.S. can't deport people to those countries because they're -- well, sh!t-holes.

Can you think of any Democrat who would rather see Mike Pence in the White House than Donald Trump? LOL.

If the Dems overtake the House it will be because the Repubs wanted it to happen.

The President has been in office for a year now. The Republican establishment, Congress in particular, remain uncommitted to our President, in fact just the opposite. This can change.

Americans who love America may need a miracle in 2018.

2016 gave us proof that the Lord is able to do abundantly above and beyond anything we can do or think. Let's believe that in 2018, we will elect men and women who love the Lord and who will remove the corruption and lawlessness we have in government.

We have a role to play if we want our nation healed. This is it:

Well, if you don’t know the difference between the GOP and the GOPe and you’re here on FR lecturing people you need to do some research and maybe limit your posting until you find out.

I know what the term is claimed to mean, but the GOP and its variants aren’t the real enemies. The rats, the old media, Homowood, and the Soros defense league orgs are the real enemies. I’m just not worried about minor annoyances so much. I am very aware it is very easy to split the rat party opponents, to fragment them, so that the rats still win even when they are in the minority.

“Can you think of any Democrat who would rather see Mike Pence in the White House than Donald Trump? LOL.”

They don’t care; they are so pathological in their hatred of Trump that removing him is all they can see.
