ANALYSIS: Republican strategists say Democrats virtually certain to win House in 2018

Republican strategists have turned decidedly pessimistic about their prospects for the 2018 midterm elections. Prominent Republicans are now saying privately that Democrats are virtually certain to win control of the House of Representatives.

As one senior Republican on Capitol Hill told ABC News, “If the election were held today, the House would be gone. Fortunately, the election is not today.”

Another prominent Republican strategist working on the midterm elections went further, telling ABC News point-blank that Republicans will lose the House and that this prospect unlikely to change.

“The only question is whether Democrats win narrowly by picking up 25 seats or whether it is a blowout of more than 35 seats,” the strategist told me.

Allies of President Donald Trump are convinced the president will quickly face impeachment hearings if Democrats take control of the House.

One Republican close to Trump predicted that not only will there be impeachment hearings but that the prospects for the president would be grim.

How many counties did Trump carry? And a bunch are going to flip when the Rats have all but guaranteed they are going to impeach the POTUS they elected? I kinda doubt it. That said why in the hell did Trump dissolve the voter fraud commission? The lesson the Rats learned is that they didn’t cheat enough.

And, as usual, no party will deserve to lose more than the Republicans, and no party will deserve to win less than the Democrats.

Republican swamp creatures want to lose the House.
They don't like the responsibility of governing.
They would rather have Obama/Hillary/Pelosi/Soros
Democrats RULE the country and our lives.
The "two party" system is a sham with the Republicans as
the other party.

There is a good chance of Nancy Pelosi regaining the speakership in the House. Voters will not be endorsing Democrat philosophy, but will stay home over disgust of the current do nothing Congress.

On the morning of Election Day, 2002, the Democrats were expected to take over both houses. The Republicans increased their control of both.

What do you mean by “squandered”? This is mere manipulation.

They are the same as the Democrats. We saw this with their refusal to do anything about Obamacare after promising to repeal it (later they sneaked in “repeal and replace”, indicating replacing it with more government “healthcare”), never mind funding everything Obama wanted during his last two years on office.

We were warned that they are the same as the Democrats back in the late 1950s and very early 1960s in books such as “The Naked Communist” and “The Conscience of a Conservative”. And that was six decades ago.

When/if the demodummies DO win the House, they will be the final “roadblock” in Trumps progress to Make America Great Again. Mark my words. The media has done what they can, “now the rest of the story”.

Democrats will campaign,saying...

-If you don’t like tax cuts, vote for us.
-If you don’t like more jobs, vote for us.
-If you don’t like having border crossings at a 20-year low, vote for us.
-If you don’t like a booming economy, vote for us.
-If you don’t like a safer country, vote for us.
-If you don’t like elimination of ISIS and Al-Qaeda, vote for us.
-If you don’t want to eliminate the threats posed by Iran and N. Korea, vote for us.
-If you like the kind of corrupt and inept government that Obama and democrats brought to you in the previous 8 years, vote for us.
-If you want to pay much higher taxes, vote for us.
-If you want out-of-control spending, vote for us.
-If you don’t care about adding uncontrollably to the national debt, vote for us.
-If you want Obamacare with its unaffordable prices, vote for us.
-If you want more control over your lives, vote for us.
-If you want more businesses to send operations overseas, vote for us.
-If you want more American jobs to be outsourced to other countries, vote for us.
-If you don’t mind being unable to find jobs, vote for us.

Okay, who wouldn’t want to vote for democrats with that kind of “winning” platform?

Republican strategists?

Who appointed them?
Does it include the likes of Steven Schmidt? Nicole Wallace? William Kristol? Karl Rove?

How do you get certified to be a strategist?

> “As one senior Republican on Capitol Hill told ABC News”
> “Another prominent Republican strategist”
> “One Republican close to Trump predicted”

ABC News, people.

All those Congressional District voters that pushed the Electoral College into the President’s column by a wide margin are suddenly going to reverse and elect democrats who stand against everything they went to the polls for?

Oh, and ABC says, “sources say”, impeachment is a given.

ABC News, people.

This is a dempcrat Pep Talk.

You assume that they really talked to anyone other than their newsroom. I doubt anyone on the Hill is conceding the House. Panic amongst Republicans is the norm but somehow I doubt they are “conceding.”

But I do have one quick question. Is there ever an election year where the “Republicans concede. . . “ or “democrats certain of victory” stories DONT appear.

I will say this again. If the economy is booming come mid-summer, and it looks like it will be, the Dems are going to have a hell of a time. “Hey, vote for us so we can repeal tax reform, impeach Trump and get back to the glorious way things were under Obama.” Yeah, that will sell.

Also, the evidence indicates that it is the Dems who know they have a problem. When they have to have “teach-ins”’ to tell their voters how to ignore their wallets regarding tax reform and play make believe, them they know the good economy will be a problem.

Finally, the GOP has Trump. He will hit the campaign trail and will be a difference maker.

I think the time has come for people like us (not just FReepers, but anyone who wants to bring down the ‘elite’) to start running for public office, en masse, on both Republican and Democrat tickets. Clog the system. State the truth. Some will go through, most won't, but we will force turnover in many offices and will make many whose live’s are predicated on obtaining power and stature via political office miserable. Challenge everyone, as often as possible. Make it a miserable life to be a politician.

Because of the GOP tax bill, we will lose seats. How many, I don't know. But there are (I believe) 34 GOP House seats in CA, NY, NJ, and IL alone.

Even if the individual GOP Congressman from these states voted against the overall bill, they will be targeted by the Democrats.

For months now, some of here on this board were warning about this, but the warnings fell on deaf ears. For the most part, they still are.
