The list is invalid...Bladerunner 2049 didnt make the top best.
Agreed. It was horrible.
Maudie was fantastic.
Wonder is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a long, long time. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
Dunkirk was good, but should have been much better.
Sally Hawkins was perfect. And as for Ethan Hawkins, I have hated him in everything I have ever seen him in...until this movie. He absolutely nailed Everett Lewis, and said far more with his expressions and body language that through the dialog. If there was any justice, there would be talk about Oscars. But it's a small art film.
I had a chance to visit the Halifax last October. The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia has a large Maude Lewis exhibit as well as Everett and Maude's actual house that had been taken apart and reassembled in the museum. Hard to believe that two people could live together in such a small place without killing each other. I don't think I could.
My thoughts exactly on Ethan Hawk.
I also read that her husband was murdered in the home.
I believe this is the small house.
Yes it is. Maude Lewis painted just about every inch of the interior.
He was, about 10 years after she died. Rumor had it that he had a small fortune hidden around the house.
If you havent seen it yet, see Remember with Christopher Plummer.
I watched BR 2049 last night. Very good movie. I love the way it all pulled together at the end...had me fooled until then. Long movie...2 hrs 44 min... and worth every minute of it.
I took a certain Miss J to dinner and to the movie Dunkirk on a first date who was, let's just say, not very well versed in either History nor Geography. Several times during he showing she asked "Now where's Dunkirk again?" and "So, it's not the name of the guy?" despite having already explained to her the location and significance prior to the movie.
She enquired about the "Heinkel" the crew had pointed out , but she kept insisting it simply must be a type of boat, followed with, "Why are the Germans trying to get away in a boats, are they stranded too?"
The concept of multiple POV storytelling seemed to elude her. "OMG, another 'Spritefire' [sic] is splashing down. Wait, I thought that boat sank already."
After it was over she remarked. "Wow, that was like Star Wars."
"Touché, Miss J., you've got me there." I thought to myself. "Star Wars for grownups." I offered.
"But set in World War One!" She perked, basking the the proud light of her insight.
We completed the evening with a cocktail and went our separate ways, but I don't envision asking her to a second date. It's true what they say about blonds.
I've since purchased the DVD, so as to now enjoy "Star Wars for grownups" in peace and quiet.
If she wasn’t putting you on, and she wasn’t stacked like paperbacks at a used bookstore, run for the hills!
What, no one’s listed “The Boss Baby” as one the best?
If you free pers want a great action movie check out brawl in cell block 99. It’s the second film by the director that made bone tomahawk. Vince Vaughn is fantastic in this movie. I was hooked from the minute it started until it ended.
John Wick 2.
I thought Dunkirk was just awful, too much CGI in places
not enough in others.
I’m also a student of history so I just couldn’t
accept the lame production values.
I agree on Dunkirk———a huge disappointment.
