TV host Mike Rowe is known for his measured, devastating take-downs of people who attack him or his work. He has perfected the art of subtly twisting the knife in the side of critics with calm, cool language.
This skill was on display Thursday when Rowe responded to a woman criticized his politics on Facebook.
Rowe narrates the show How The Universe Works on the Science Channel. The woman, Rebecca Bright, called Rowe an anti-education, science doubting, ultra-right wing conservative who should be fired.
I love the show How the Universe Works, but Im lost on how the producers and the Science Channel can allow anti-education, science doubting, ultra-right wing conservative Mike Rowe to narrate the show, Bright wrote, according to Rowe. There are countless scientists that should be hired for that, or actors, if you must, that believe in education and science that would sound great narrating the show, example: Morgan Freeman. Cancel this fools contract and get any of your scientists so often on the show to narrate it.
In his response, Rowe started off by exhibiting his knowledge of the subject of the show and killing Rebecca with kindness:

This argument applies to the Trump haters.
“I just visited your page, and read your own description of you. It was revealing. It says, I stand my ground. I fear no one & nothing. I have & will fight for whats right.
Maybe Im missing something, but I dont think the ground youre standing on is worth defending. If you truly fear no one & nothing, its not because youre brave; its because youre unwilling to expose yourself to ideas that frighten you. And while I can see that you like to fight for what you think is right (in this case, getting people fired that you disagree with,) one could easily say the same thing about any other misguided, garden-variety bully.
In other words, Rebecca, I dont think you give a damn about science. If Im wrong, prove it. Take a step back and be skeptical about your own assumptions. Take a moment to doubt your own words, and ask yourself as any good scientist would if youve got your head up a black hole.”
Yup....just seen it happen on a National Review thread. Leftist seen the poster gave his Facebook job site & the lefty said he captured this guy’s post & was sending in to his work.

It’s coming for sure.
“I do not agree with Alan Dershowitz on most matters.”
Same here. But he is getting wise in his old age.
There is a new show on Fox News Sunday evening called “Wise Guys” and it is the best show I have seen in many years.
The Fox News Channel special The Wise Guys airs at 8:00 and 11 p.m. ET on Sunday.
Moderated by former Education Secretary Dr. Bill Bennett, co-panelists CEO Steve Wynn of Wynn Resorts, retired Col. Oliver North, former White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer and Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz engage in a can’t-miss roundtable discussion.
Here is a link to the first show on YouTube.

MARYLAND PING.
While I may not agree with a person, they earn my respect if they have a well thought out developed reasoning to support their argument. Alan is one of those.

I read somewhere that some people use a fake name for facebook so they can say what they want. Now who would possibly do such a thing? yuk yuk yuk
An epic takedown of a libtard snowflake!
You need to do that these days. I’m not on social media, at all.
Socialism is always only a few million more murders away from utopia.
Does this moron realize that hiring Freeman ( or others like him ) to narrate anything would probably bankrupt most networks?
Tattle-tale.
Overall it's a great response but it's too bad Rowe gets sloppy and includes the preposterous "warfare hypothesis." I think it's far more reasonable to conclude that science and the Bible contradict one another not at all.
“Liberals seem to be quite the opposite — they love to ruin the lives of people they don’t know, simply for disagreeing on whether the polar bears are dying out or not. “
Liberals are classic bullies. And unfortunately for many years, Conservatives took it. Even to a point where the ones that were bullied had the knife in his drawer but he would never take it to school and use it.

He wasn’t saying that science and the Bible are contradictory he was making the point that the host of a show need not personally believe the narrative of the show that he hosts.
ie Morgan Freeman calls himself a “believer” yet the show he hosts contradicts the Bible at every turn. And it does. But it doesn’t use science to contradict it so that’s not even part of Rowe’s point.
What it does do is use extremely sloppy interpretations of other religions, like Buddhism, to make solipsistic contradictions and analogies with Christianity. And other religions. But that’s another subject entirely.
My daughter worked with Mike Rowe on a termite control project on Georgia’s barrier islands. He is a great guy who acts in private exactly as he does on TV. He does, however, like to drink beer.
