OSLO - Many Norwegians rejected on Friday a suggestion by U.S. President Donald Trump that they would be more welcome to move to the United States than immigrants from “shithole countries” such as Haiti or African nations.
The Nordic country, one of the richest in the world by GDP per capita, was last year named the happiest nation on the planet and is known for a cradle-to-grave welfare state funded in part by large reserves of oil and natural gas.
“On behalf of Norway: Thanks, but no thanks,” tweeted Torbjoern Saetre, a politician representing Norway’s Conservative Party in a municipality near Oslo.
Others condemned the U.S. president’s comments as inappropriate or racist.
“We are not coming. Cheers from Norway,” one woman wrote.
While hundreds of thousands of Norwegians emigrated to the U.S. in the 19th century, just 502 out of a population of 5.3 million people moved there in 2016, down 59 from the previous year, according to Statistics Norway.

Actually I think Norway’s immigration policy made it easier to stay in Norway.

According to those who have visited the Nordic nations, the dating/social scene borders on the hopeless. The bar scene is still busy but the women go there to have a drink or two and meet up with people. Because the alcohol prices are astronomical, the males drink loads of their nation’s equivalent of moonshine and arrive plastered and don’t spend a nickel - especially on the ladies.
I think ALL Nordic women under 40 should emmigrate to the US. And stay in Florida. In my county. Just up the street. They can pitch tents in my backyard, as many as can fit. I’m generous to others this way. Doin my part for world relations.

Wonderfully stated. I don’t take these people from shit hole countries to raise . I raised my own and actually paid for their college. I took them to Church and made sure they were properly conducting themselves. They competed in contact sports and respected authority and today they are fine men in whom I am well please. I dont give a crap about some damned illegal immigrant. I want them deported with great haste so people on welfare will take those jobs.
Norway is not a part of the EU, and thus not subject to their Muslim immigration requirements.

The modern ones are very well behaved. Back in the Middle Ages, folks who invited the Norwegians in usually lived to regret it (if they lived). Now you can't lure them out of Norway. Funny how times change.
Not many people have pointed out that the same people who criticize Trump’s “s*ithole” comment are the same ones who defend open borders because immigrants are fleeing from war, poverty, disease, political repression, or drug cartels. In other words, they are fleeing from s*itholes.
