President Trump reportedly complained during a Thursday meeting with lawmakers about immigrants from “shithole” countries coming to America.
The Washington Post quoted Trump, based on a source who was in the meeting, saying:
“Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?” The president was specifically referring to immigrants from Haiti, El Salvador and African countries and a proposal to restore protections to them.
The lawmakers in the meeting were Lindsey Graham and Dick Durbin. The Post notes:
Graham and Durbin thought they would be meeting with Trump alone and were surprised to find immigration hard-liners such as Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), at the meeting. The meeting was impromptu and came after phone calls this morning, Capitol Hill aides said. The administration is working on a bipartisan immigration deal which seeks to permanently implement DACA and establish robust border security. Protections for immigrants and the visa lottery will likely take a hit as part of the deal. The White House has indicated that a bipartisan deal has not been reached, but they are “hopeful” a deal will be brokered soon.
UPDATE: In a statement, the White House does not deny that the president said the above quote behind closed doors.

I’ve been in more than a few shithole countries in my 70 years. The USA has more than its share of shithole communities that are worse than a lot of what I saw overseas. Two months ago I spent a day in Havana and suburbs. It is a veritable shithole but almost all the people I encountered were very polite and respectful to foreigners and each other. We already have too many shithole people in this country and we certainly don’t need any more.

We’ve been doing that for years and years and years. I believe it is the thugs that run these countries who keep the people in poverty.
This is the first real, man of the people, American President during my lifetime. He calls it like it is, speaks, and thinks like the rest of us. His brain has not been destroyed by a PC education or indoctrination. I love it!

Shortly after that, George W.’s standings in the presidential approval polls jumped upward considerably.
I am not a fan of these kind of outbursts. Contrary to most Freepers, I am not one who thinks this helps our cause over the long run. We need to think about the midterms, and what it will take to win them. I just dont see how this can be productive. I mean, sure, yeah, amongst us, its funny, its great, its Trump Being Trump... but how does it play out there, we do have to win over some moderate voters. I had thought that by now, Trump would have started reigning some of this in.

Yup, going colloquial will get you bashed in politics The simple fact is if you are going to a merit based system you are going to find more applicants with the skill set, educational background and earnings potential in first world nations be they white or non white than third world nations. Much easier though to frame a false narrative in racial terms if one is an identity politics person so one can avoid the substantive argument of the benefits of a merit based system.
I have no idea if this report is accurate or if you're still stuck in New Orleans. But clearly you have not seen what 30 years of reckless, dangerous chain immigration have done. Now compound that with decades of violent lawless government borders in the southwest, again coming from another sh*thole country.
This has forever changed major population centers in just a few decades. Fast. Literally replacing or completely over running Middle class Americans who once lived in many of these cities for generations. Quickly.
Over the past few decades, the innocent victims from this are countless. The cost to tax payers? Many hundreds of billions in medical care and social services alone. They had nearly choked off the social services/medical facilities in many places.
Bottom-line this is exactly what happened, starting long ago, when the corrupt in government decide to open up a non-stop super express from shitholes all over the planet to the USA.

In the face of all of this costly, deadly widespread carnage going back decades, happening right now even and your only comment was not an answer to the question or comment on the issue he's referring to, but rather about Trump using a word you don't think is appropriate. The problem with what you suggest is embodied by the Puerto Rico debacle, where US military was compelled to confiscate, at gun point, generators and other infrastructure supplies that corrupt Puerto Rican thieves in both the power company and government itself had stolen and stockpiled. I believe that happened just this past week. Puerto Rico is US territory and we can’t control the shytehole element.
