Despite announcements of widespread store closings by retail chains including Sam’s Club, Kmart and Macy’s, a once-bankrupted electronics company has announced its plans to re-enter the marketplace.
According to CNBC, Circuit City CEO Ronny Shmoel made a statement during the recent Consumer Electronics Show outlining the company’s plans to expand into the current retail landscape.

Gutsy call, getting into retail NOW.
They need a new model — having floor staff that don’t ignore customers AND know their products and inventory would be a good start.
But they need to make it seamless between brick/mortar and internet.
i wish them luck as more competition ALWAYS helps consumers.
Is the old Circuit City coming back from bankruptcy or has a new company just bought the trademark? I liked having the old one around even if you did have to dodge all the salesmen on commission when trying to get back to the DVD and CD department.
They still owe me $200 (that I know I’ll never recover). A pox upon them.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. In 2002, I bought a 30-inch TV that was so deep and heavy that I had to give it away to a big strong nephew on his way to college to get it out of my basement. The cost is that he had to get it out of my basement himself and whatever friends he could recruit. Thing weighed like 160 pounds. This was back when kids were getting killed climbing on them.
Probably. I work with a guy who has the last name Schmuck. He’s got a great sense of humor (you’d have to). He says proudly, “Most of them have changed their name, I’m the only Schmuck left in the company directory!”

They call Best Buy “Amazon’s showroom”.I guess you’ll be able to attach the same thought to the renewed “Circuit City”.
