Oprah: ‘Most Pain I Feel Is Every Time I Write A Check to the IRS’

In interview, Oprah also said she 'doesn't know the answer' to get America back on its feet

BY: Ali Meyer Follow @DJAliMeyer January 9, 2018 10:55 am

Oprah Winfrey, in a 2011 interview with Piers Morgan, expressed her disdain for writing checks for more than $100,000 to the Internal Revenue Service.

In the interview, Morgan asked Winfrey about her billion-dollar business and inquired about how many checks she signs.

"I sign all the ones for over $100,000 and that’s a lot of checks," Winfrey said. "Millions are going out."

Morgan asked whether or not that hurt Winfrey and whether she felt physical pain from it.

"No the most pain I feel is—my accountants will tell you this—every time I write a check to the IRS, it's a ceremony," Winfrey said. "They come in, for years they came in with wine, now they come in with tequila—it's a tequila signing ceremony."

According to Americans for Tax Reform, Winfrey has also criticized the Death Tax in the past.

"I think it's so irritating that once I die, 55 percent of my money goes to the United States government," Winfrey said. "You know why it's so irritating? Because you already paid nearly 50 percent when the money was earned."

She must mean her check amounts are too low, thus the pain. She would be much happier and pain-free if they were much larger checks.

Sorry Oprah, but you’re a die-hard member of a party that declares big government to be THE goal. Higher taxes are the goal.

Your party freaks at the talk of tax cuts.

Trump is the guy that hates paying taxes. Your aren’t.

Your voter registration and the very talk of running against Trump reveals this to be true.

Automatic payroll deduction of your federal taxes is why they are so high. Can you imagine what would happen to our tax system if companies were not allowed to deduct it and you were required to pay it yourself at the end of the year?

Opra gets it because she has to actually write the checks. Quarterly.

She could reduce her taxes even more by supporting more responsible fiscal policies that include entitlement reform and immigration enforcement.

Oh no. She believes people should pay more in taxes, just not her.

She is running.
Some Clinton adviser suggested this as a safe fake to the right.

It’s a little early for the ‘bait and switch’ shtick isn’t it Oprah?

Go ahead Oprah, ya feelin’ lucky? Go ahead, run for President....

When the press gets done with you, you will think a trip to the Proctologist was less invasive.

The press will get in line to look where the sun don’t shine......freedom of the press, remember?

I have some personal knowledge of Oprah here. From years ago when Oprah decided to run the Marine Corps Marathon. Talk about self-centered, demanding and short tempered.....

Trump has nothing on you for petulance and rudeness.

Kadian Noble says it pains her every time she thinks back to being delivered to Harvey Weinstein by Oprah and Naomi Campbell. The lack of shame of these people feel about being complete hypocrites is astonishing.

The utter hypocrisy of the left never ceases to amaze me. It’s like a religion to them. Or this past weekend: “Nobody is doing anything for African Americans” “Well it was just announced that black unemployment for blacks is the lowest it’s been since they started counting it back in 1972” “Uh..we want the woman who relentlessly promoted that guy who did absolutely nothing for blacks for 8 years as the next President”

Orpah pays taxes because she is profitable, even after her teams of accountants whack away at the weeds.

Most likely she is paying monthly, and those checks are 941 employee taxes. I can't believe that she is not a C Corp from Delaware or Nevada.

She is not a “little person” and hasn't been for decades.

I’m sure OOprah would agree that the Government should print money and stop taking it from the citizens.

I’m with you. I was just using her comment to illustrate why ALL of our taxes can be so high without a revolution. Like your 401k payments, you just don’t see the government stabbing you in the back financially every pay day.

From 2011? Harpo has ‘made it’ bigly. Creds to her. Plenty of people will not be president.

I feel the pain...

She is an Obama acolyte, we should seriously doubt she is talking to those who pay a sizable amount of taxes.

…the Earned Income Tax Credit provides… income through the tax code …should be expanded…so more families can take advantage of it.
