It’s an animal for god sakes people.

My dad had a firm rule that any dog (his or anyone elses) that bit a child was put down (by the owner or himself if necessary) at first opportunity unless there were multiple witnesses that said it was provoked far beyond reason.

And yeah, we had some neighbors who didn’t like us much.

My father had an even harder policy than that. Any dog that attacked a human, whether provoked or not, had to go.

Even if not the dog’s “fault”, he reasoned that once a dog realizes that attacking a human is an option, the horse is out of the barn.
