Bannon Was Reportedly Minutes Away From Blasting Wolff Before Trump Attacked Him
Slate ^ | JAN 06, 2018 | Daniel Politi

Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon was just about to attack Michael Wolff for his book Fire and Fury when he decided to put a hold on the plans after President Donald Trump went all out in his criticism of his former staffer, reports CNN.

Shortly after the first excerpts of the book were released in which Bannon was quoted as saying that Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was “treasonous” and “unpatriotic,” the former chief strategist planned to call the book “another lefty hatchet job.” But then Trump released his own statement saying Bannon had “lost his mind” and the former aide went back on his plans.

“As I said during my interview with 60 Minutes and many times since, there is no basis to the Russian investigation. It’s a political witch hunt orchestrated by the left,” Bannon’s statement was allegedly going to say, according to CNN’s source. “Don Jr., like his father, is a great American and a patriot. And we all know Don Jr. did not knowingly meet with Russian agents. Paul Manafort is an independent actor who clearly put his own interests ahead of the campaign and all involved. Michael Wolff took my remarks about Don Jr. out of context to sell his book. Sadly, this is yet another lefty hatchet job intended to disrespect our President and his supporters.”

CNN is not the first to report that Bannon was getting ready to criticize Wolff’s book before Trump decided to insult his former aide.

That’s funny, because Wolff says he invited himself.

“Wolff (who is the co-founder of Newser) explains just how he got access to them. A June 2016 Hollywood Reporter article may have helped grease things: Hope Hicks emailed Wolff to say Trump was pleased with the cover. Post-election, Wolff says he floated the idea of him coming to the White House “journalistically, as a fly on the wall” to gather information for a future book. Trump seemed disinterested in the idea of a book, but “his non-disapproval became a kind of passport for me to hang around,” writes Wolff.”

but Bannon has had nothing but good things to say about Pres. Trump since this all started.

Trying to save his own bacon. Not going to happen for Sloppy Steve as the President now calls him.

It is extraordinary after everything he has done you still have the nerve to defend him.

If it’s between believing Wolff or believing Trump and his Press Secretary ... guess who I will choose?

I am not defending Bannon bit I am not relishing in his demise either because he was a good spokesman for economic nationalism and protectionism.

Not only that, but people cannot simy invite themselves into the WH. They have to have a legitimate reason and authorization in order to get inside.

You globalist Free Traitors™ are loving the Bannon demise way too much.

Ridiculous. Trade policy has nothing to do with disgust for Bannon's actions one way or the other. Bannon did this to himself. Is this really the best you've got? Why are you defending this guy? You obviously don't have any substantive defense to offer for him by posting something like this, so why bother? Just looking to argue with people for the sake of doing so?

Sarah has qualifiers left right and center “from what I can tell,” “as far as we can tell” bit less than definitive.

The only thing in that link that "explains" how Wolff got access to the WH is this statement...

Trump seemed disinterested in the idea of a book, but "his non-disapproval became a kind of passport for me to hang around," writes Wolff.

That is a non-explanation as no one gets access to the WH without some person with the authority signing off on it and no one is named there. In fact the statement "his non-disapproval became a kind of passport for me to hang around," is such laughable nonsense as to be gibberish. If people could get access to the WH based on the president not saying you couldn't then anyone in the world could walk on in at any time.

Then face it...even if it was more than 4 years ago, you were NEVER there when Andrew was running things and have less than NO idea what it was once like and just how much Bannon, when he and his group took over, DESTROYED Andrew's vision and site.

That "CRAP", that you don't like, is Bannon's doing!

I still take a look at BB, every now and again and every time I do...it's worse than the last time and I have knowledge of that site from almost its beginnings.

I left when it was worse than terrible and with every later visit, it is worse.

You have to realize that Shapiro is a never-Trumper. When that female journalist accused Corey Lendowski of shoving her away from Trump at an event, Breitbart ended up letting her go and Ben stood up for the woman although video didn’t support her story. He ended up leaving Breitbart as well. So Shapiro’s opinion could well be jaded. Personally, I think Bannon’s ego & drinking got him into this trouble. Sadly. Nonetheless Bannon joins my list of untrustworthy people that Ben Shapiro has been on for a long time now. 😁

Well I do have to agree that it was an absurd situation, which no doubt goes to Sarah Huckabee-Sanders confusion on the issue.

IOWs you believe Wolff’s nonsensical statement over Sanders’ (who has access to WH logs) statement.

LOL whatever

She doesn’t know and says as much. You have some speculation there but very light on the facts.
