"No, everything in the South is called Coke. Gimme a Coke. does not matter if one only sells Pepsi products."

Yup.

To my dear mother, everything was a coke...raised in south Alabama.

FYI, Dr Pepper was in business before Coca Cola.

Umm, in science classes you did learn that a personal observation of one datum provided you with absolutely no valid conclusion?

Your grandmother probably ate very healthy as a kid.

Today's processed food loaded with fat, sugar, and salt is a killer. Coke is just one of the worst, among others, of the rat poison Americans consume with their food addictions.

Would your grandmother approve of the pandemic in type 2 diabetes in children, never seen before in human history? The obesity growth of big fat addicted America?

It isn't a matter of individual genes. It is Big Ag trying to stuff more profits into their pocket hoping they get enough out of you while you fatten up and die from preventable disease. You are to be used, passed on to the medical sector, and carried out on a special, heavy duty gurney. The medical sector knows what is going on and why. They have all the research they need. Many have been bought of to keep their mouths shut or create spin. ISIS doesn't have to worry. American farmers and food manufactures are doing fine at killing Americans. Just give them time.

You’re a fool who buys into any conspiracy theory, apparently. Try going into farm country sometime. Of the hundreds of farmers that I have conversed with over the years, and dined with, virtually all of them eat their own product. If you think that every person (except you, of course, you’re awesome) can be bought for a few pennies per meal into committing suicide.... well then, you’re just a fool.

Coke running from Canada? Or do they tax it heavily there, too?

Could be, but he’s right about the health in the US. In 1960, US healthcare was 4% of GDP. Today, despite the fact that GDP has grown massively, healthcare as a % of GDP - which should have shrank - has grown to nearly 20% - with nearly no change in life expectancy except a reduction in car accidents and infant deaths. A huge reason for that is Americans are fat as hell and type 2 diabetes among others is rampant. I normally don’t care what people digest but since American points guns at my head and forces me to pay for their healthcare (medicare, medicaid, tax subsidies for ACA, etc), I do care.

This is a city. Where does a city’s power to do this come from?

Eat what you want, Badboo, but STFU about what others choose to eat.

If you don’t like the effects, don’t put it in your mouth.

So sad that you would reduce freedom to the addiction to sugar. You apparently have no concept of the true meaning of political liberty or the effects of rat poison. You sound more like of a leftist than a constitutional conservative. Are you trolling from DU?

One of us is so wrong on so many levels. Under our Constitution the federal government may regulate interstate commerce, and the states can exercise powers not reserved to the feds or the people themselves.

Regulating commerce as a commerce issue is one thing. Regulating “commerce” to control personal decisions is quite different. Nine 16-ounce bottles of coke have a total of one pound of sugar between them. I find that disgusting - we agree on that point. However, the idea that we have too little government in our lives is far more disgusting. If the “Cola Wars” returned, as a shooting war between the socialist cities and the free territories in flyover country, I would be on the side of freedom.

No one has the right to fine, tax, or otherwise punish other adults over disagreements on dietary choice. That sort of control is far outside the scope of appropriate governmental power. I’d like to see an end to special liquor and tobacco taxes too.

Heh. I don’t drink any of that crap and haven’t for years (30 or more). Water, coffee, milk, red wine or an occasional beer. That’s it.

Tiny? It looks to me like that little dictator chose to consume far too many high-sugar drinks and got unbelievably fat fat fat.

>>And those diet sludge drinks aren’t healthy either.<<

Yep. They legislated an old wive’s tale that “diet”drinks are better for you than normal.

Proof liberalism is a mental disease.

No different than the Feds “incentivizing” certain behaviors via tax relief for some things......lots of folks want to continue previous tax write-offs and yet will jump all over such as this......
