Former “Jersey Shore” cast member Vinny Guadagnino shot back at President Trump on Thursday after Trump said the United States could use some “good old global warming” to heat up cold states.
“I think climate change is more complex than global warming will make it hotter,” Guadagnino tweeted to Trump. “It has to do with disruptions of atmospheric conditions, ocean patterns, jet streams and s--t like that.”
The former MTV reality star later responded to Twitter users who mocked him for replying to Trump, asking “why does having a summer shore house automatically make [you] stupid?
Trump tweeted Thursday evening about the cold weather blasting much of the U.S., saying the country needed “a little bit of that good old Global Warming.”
Large swaths of the US are expected to see record-breaking cold temperatures over New Year’s weekend, with some areas expected to have low temperatures in the negative 40s.
Much of the Northeast is also facing wind chill advisories over the weekend, with wind chills in New England expected to measure between 20 and 40 degrees below zero.
Democratic lawmakers also slammed Trump following the tweet.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) tweeted that the U.S. has a “moral obligation” to combat climate change, and Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) blasted the tweet as “embarrassing.”
Trump has denied that global warming exists in the past, claiming it was “created by and for the Chinese in order to make U.S. manufacturing non-competitive.”
