War with North Korea can be avoided if the Trump administration uses sanctions modeled after President Barack Obama's much-excoriated Iran deal and if everyone just avoids "irresponsible" war predictions that risk "millions of lives," Ohio's Republican Governor John Kasich wrote on Monday.
Kasichwho battled Donald Trump for the Republican presidential nomination last yearoutlined a plan for stronger U.S. sanctions against North Korea in an opinion column in The Washington Post published Monday evening. He slammed Republican Senator Lindsay Graham of South Carolina and other politicians for "predicting odds on the probability of war" against North Korea when there is still time to negotiate.
Kasich even touched the third rail of Republican politics in the bid to be the conscience of the party, praising Obama's ability to bring Iran to the table for nuclear negotiations with harsh sanctions.

Unless Ohio has its own foreign policy and he’s been running it, the guy’s just spouting off.
“Who are these jerks who keep putting microphones in front of this total ass?”
They must be trying to make “Republicans” look bad......
It works. It's called kick the can.
Kasich/Flake 2020
Every family has the embarrassing uncle - Ohio has Kasich....difference is, they CAN choose in his case.....hope they get on it - he probably thinks he’s beefing up his Presidential creds...
Yesterday, a Fox pundit said Kasich is preparing to run for President in 2020, challenging PDJT. Flake, too.
Flake cannot even win AZ anymore. He was down 20 points so he dropped out.
I am not sure Kasich could win Ohio again — especially against Trump. He was too clueless to drop out last time.
Kaysuck needs to run on his clear intention, stated by me above: To make sure America is hit as hard as possible with North Korean nuclear weapons.
That’s fine. I’m OK with those two tools throwing their money down the drain. (How do their heirs feel about their diminishing inheritances?). And I doubt if many donors woll step up to wasting their money with financial support.
Kasich definitely has a screw loose; there’s an actual clinical issue going on in his head.
Flake... I don’t know. Just stupid, I guess.
