I have not verified Smerconish's comments...but they sound right on to me.

I watched the whole thing. He basically laid out Trump’s real accomplishments (reality) in the face of his viewers’ wishes (fantasy). He still had to throw out “for good or bad” to snowflakes, to offset the truth-telling
Media are portrayed as smarter than us in their role of disseminating “news”, but here Smerconish isn’t telling us anything we didn’t ALREADY KNOW! One would like to give credit, but I’m going to reserve it for the moment Smerconish says Trump VOTERS were right!

This thread is a good place to call attention to my tagline, although I’ve seen long time FReepers engage in the same maddening practice - “Hey! Watch this video”. How about you (OP) summarize it so I can decide whether to spend 2:38 of my life watching a poorly shot, poorly edited, blurry video that tells me nothing and proves nothing.

That quote is like the OLD Mike Smerconish. I used to hear him every morning on 1210 AM, The Big Talker station in Philly. Back then, he sounded like a FReeper. Around 2008 he swerved leftward, and this is the first intelligent thing I’ve heard out of him in nearly a decade.

We FReepers usually don’t click on video links. In fact, most of us don’t even read the article before we start giving our opinion on it.
YES I remember the change. I watched him on C span licking the elites boots at a party for a book he wrote. Walking around with a drink in his hand and whispering in ears. I knew he had CHANGED!!!

Every time he gets close to praising Trump, he tempers that with weasel words like “for better or worse”. As long as he keeps straddling the fence by playing to both sides, his commentator job with CNN is secure.
But he is absolutely right to criticize Time for not picking Trump as Person of the Year.
