It’s easy to think of him as an idiot - but to the white farmers there - the land means more to them than even their children (ok, maybe the same) - they absolutely LOVE THEIR COUNTRY and really, really, want to help pull it out of the abyss - and this new government may just want them to do so.
As noted above - this is a huge deal, as it means that people there, the majority, are willing to suck it up, so as to allow those that really understand how to work the land to make them prosperous again. It is a great sign that human decency may well prevail after all - and hopefully South Africa is taking notes.
Now only if BLM could do the same...

The country started starving because all these white farmers got kicked off their lands. This guy was among the big farmers kicked off. I think it was the former dictator’s wife who took possession of this guy’s farm. I read an article about it a long time ago. Maybe the new government knows to feed the country they need to get some of these people back to working the land. This land probably sat fallow while the dictator’s wife lived in this man’s house.
I have always thought that it has been one of America’s great mistakes not to offer ‘refugee status’ to displaced Rhodesians , throughout the 80’s , 90’s and into the new Millennium. These hard working stalwart people would have , could have become great Americans . A wonderful ,agriculture oriented asset , to help re-populate and regenerate the vast stretches of the rural mid west where so many family farms have been abandoned and gone fallow . Instead , it has been U.S. immigration policies to allow in limitless numbers of non-agricultural oriented immigrants that also gravitate to the urban and metropolitan areas , often ending up becoming needy welfare dependent types . More mouths to feed ,while at the same time injecting non-America/American compatible cultures and belief sets . What a mess . White Rhodesians should have been avidly courted and admitted , en masse .

A military coup in Africa is usually not a good sign, but in this case it is very good.
The newly installed junta will want to line their pockets for sure, but at least they will do it in a recognizable way and know that the bigger the economy, the more there is to steal. Bringing back white farmers, and stabilizing property rights will go a long way to limiting inflation and simply feeding the people. Who knows? In 10 years they might have a booming export business again.
The Chinese will see to it that he’s protected. They need a reliable food supply for the miners who will be digging up the natural resources to send to China.
Mugabe’s thuggish black nationalist marxism is done.
Zimbabwe will still continue to suffer all the problems of sub-Saharan Africa, but extreme racist-rigid Marxism won’t be one of them.
