Can't they just genetically produce meat in a lab? Without animals or bones?

There is no amino acid replacement for animal based proteins.

The El Segundo, Calif.-based startup is beginning the roll out of its plant-based sausage product

Did some government lab produce a virus that killed all of the pigs on the planet and I missed it in the news?

Why do we need a plant based sausage?

Years ago they developed steaks based on mushrooms grown from saw dust. problem was, to get the meat taste, the sawdust had to be soaked in blood.

which reminds me of an old Si-Fi short story about a tin horn dictator in the Brazilian jungle with no meat, tiring of vegetables and wanted some MEAT! So his on site doctor-scientist developed “Greenbeefos” a vegetable that tasted like meat. With an evil ending.

FOUND IT!
