That’s the bottom line and the key issue. It is paramount for the USA to have a united Korea with the model of South Korea and bloodless as East and West Germany uniting. If it takes war, so be it. The nukes and Fat Boy’s regime needs to go along with China’s ambitions.
It would be in China’s interest to rid North Korea of Kim and establish a government that can allow change and growth and freedom from general starvation while maintaining a political barrier.
Compared to the fantastically wealthy south Korea and the capitalist trending Pearl River region of China, North Korea is a gangrenous supporating wound. So, for China the problem becomes what to do with this basket case after removing the Kim regime.
That is a problem that must be solved by cooperation with other nations including South Korea, the United States and perhaps Japan.
That boils down to trust between Xi and Trump. Can they trust each other enough to rid the earth of Kim and then be able to co operate in the salvaging and total rebuilding of North Korea as an entity rather than a part politically of the South?
