I (mostly) agree with what you're saying. Speaking only for myself, I would never wish cancer on anyone no matter how much I despised their political beliefs. I want McCain and Biden out of politics, I don't want them dead or physically harmed.
However, I do think that there's something very tasteless of how both Biden and McCain's family are making a public spectacle of their grief and loss. Hugging and crying on TV for the whole world to see is an undignified way to deal with grief and loss, and they shouldn't be surprised if it attracts ridicule rather than sympathy.
Unfortunately, this isn't a problem that's unique to McCain or Biden. Our Social Media culture seems to have turned everyone's private life into a mass spectacle.

I agree. I think he has months at the most. Putting aside politics, the breakdown she had could have happened to anyone whose family member is dying of cancer.

I hear you. Is it even possible (likely?) this was planned as a national TV moment? Seemed almost as political as Jimmy Kimmel’s healthcare rants.
I mean, we have heard of Trump’s kindnesses to strangers in private when THEY came forward....Trump didn’t do it in front of cameras for the most part.
Again, there is part of me that wants to be more empathetic. This just looked staged. I don’t believe most of these events happen spontaneously.
Anyone remember when Trump called that black female woman who said she was a veteran and needed a job? The media was exceedingly skeptical, though I recall it was a legit move on Trump’s part.
Remember how the media was skeptical of Plumber Joe? They inspected that guy’s life up and down.
Or the former beauty pageant contestant who showed up to a Trump event to praise him for helping her AFTER she was out of the limelight. Something done in private that came to light later...as opposed to something done (apparently) for the cameras.
The guy (either one of them) can not croak soon enough for me.
