If Big Luther had won the seat would have stayed Republican. But no, he wasn’t conservative enough, or something. So after the civil war, the democrats own a red state senate seat and Trump’s original wisdom is validated.

The purists here want to get rid of a far number of Republican Senators - handing control of the Senate to the Democrats does not seem to be a problem for them; as long as they remain pure and true to their beliefs, the Democrats will always win because there is no one that is pure enough for the purists who can win an election in a given district.

Moore wasn't the reason the seat was lost. The Republican establishment sabotaged him and provided more than the margin of victory for Jones. This after it destroyed Brooks in the primary.
Strange would have won, though, and Trump obviously thought he could live with him in the Senate.
